Politicians and parents of slain students in Parkland, Florida, are expressing outrage about a forthcoming video game in which players can simulate being an active shooter to terrorize a school. The game, "Active Shooter," is set to be released June 6 on Steam, a gaming platform owned by Valve Corp., a video game developer based in Washington state. The game was developed by Revived Games and published by a Russian company called Acid, which plans to sell the game for between and on the Steam platform.Marketing materials for the game say players will be able to choose between portraying a SWAT team member responding to a shooting or portraying an actual shooter whose objective is to "hunt and destroy."A fierce backlashRyan Petty, who lost his 14-year-old daughter Alaina in the February shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, called the game "despicable" in a tweet."It's disgusting that Valve Corp. is trying to profit from the glamorization of tragedies affecting our schools across the country," Petty said in a statement. "Keeping our kids safe is a real issue affecting our communities and is in no way a 'game.'" 1153
President Donald Trump on Friday tweeted that an ongoing serial package bomb scare is "unfortunate" because the news media is "not talking politics" and slowing Republican "momentum" ahead of midterm elections."Republicans are doing so well in early voting, and at the polls, and now this “Bomb” stuff happens and the momentum greatly slows - news not talking politics. Very unfortunate, what is going on. Republicans, go out and vote!" Trump tweeted.Trump's tweet was his first tweet since two additional package bombs — one addressed for former Director of National Intelligence, one addressed to Sen. Cory Booker — were discovered on Friday morning.Trump previously called for unity in the face of the bomb scares during an event at the White House on Wednesday, saying that threats of political violence of any kind have "no place in the United States." Since that event, Trump has been more heated in his rhetoric, partly blaming the news media for the attacks. At least two of the suspicious packages have been addressed to CNN offices.More on this as it develops. 1083

Already spoke to NRA, doesn't seem to make much sense!" the President tweeted Tuesday, without offering further details about what he'll do about the weapons. 625

President Donald Trump has taken issue with New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s plan to paint “Black Lives Matter” in front of Trump’s namesake Manhattan tower. A de Blasio spokeswoman announced plans for the mural in front of Trump Tower on Wednesday. Trump tweeted about the plan Thursday and said Black Lives Matter protesters have chanted about killing police officers. "Told that @nycmayor Bill de Blasio wants to paint the fabled & beautiful Fifth Avenue, right in front of Trump Tower/Tiffany, with a big yellow Black Lives Matter sign," Trump tweeted. "'Pigs in a Blanket, Fry ‘Em Like Bacon', referring to killing Police, is their chant. NYC Police are furious!"But that has not in fact been a common chant at protests in New York or elsewhere since the death of George Floyd one month ago in Minneapolis.De Blasio also responded to Trump."Only warped minds equate the words Black Lives Matter with violence," he tweeted. "It’s a movement to recognize and protect the lives of Black people. Nobody’s surprised that makes you uncomfortable."PIX11 News contributed to this report. 1100
