Her hometown was one of the areas hit hardest by the earthquake.People from all walks of life and resources from around the country were sent to assist the Qiang and save their endangered folk culture."Today we can express our most sincere and heartfelt gratitude to all the people who helped us," she said.Elements featuring the earthquake are noticeable at the Sichuan Pavilion. A digital screen depicts the relief operation and reconstruction.

ISLAMABAD, March 30 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese embassy official Tuesday called on an official of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) to donate 30,000 U.S. dollars on behalf of the China Red Cross Society (CRCS) to assist the residents affected by the landslide in northern Pakistan early this year.Muhammad Ilyas Khan, PRCS secretary general, asked Yao Jing, counselor of the Chinese embassy to Pakistan, to convey his appreciation to the CRCS for its generous donation to Hunza, Gilgit-Baltistan due to the landslide in January, 2010.He said that Chinese friends always extend assistance to Pakistan in difficult times and Pakistan is proud of its friendship with China.At present, the local government and PRCS are working hard to provide relief to the villages. The government is also trying to control the damage and tackle with the challenge caused by the lake in the area.On January 4, a serious landslide occurred in Gilgit-Baltistan and formed a huge barrier lake. The slide blocked over 20,000 local residents in Upper Hunza from outside. The Pakistani government is conducting the rescue and relief work . On January 19, at the request of the Pakistani government, the Chinese side made special arrangements to open the Kunjirap border and facilitate the purchase of relief goods from China and its clearance.The China Road and Bridge Corporation, which is conducting the project of upgradation of the Karakoram Highway, has also provided engineering consultations and equipment to help the Pakistani side to deal with the problem.

  

XINING, April 26 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin visited quake survivors and rescuers during a trip to the quake-hit Yushu in northwest China's Qinghai Province on Monday."The government will go all out to rebuild the quake zone," Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, told villagers from Yushu County, where the epicenter lies.Jia also met with representatives of monks who joined the rescue. TASHKENT, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Uzbek President Islam Karimov and visiting Chinese State Councilor Meng Jianzhu both have pledged to deepen the mutually beneficial cooperation between their countries. Uzbekistan wishes to further deepen its mutuallu beneficial cooperation with China on politics, economy, trade and security, which will benefit the two countries and the two peoples, Karimov said Friday during a meeting with Meng.China-Uzbekistan relations developed smoothly in 2009, said Meng, who also attended the fifth session of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Security Council Secretaries in Tashkent.Leaders of the two countries have kept close contacts, which is a strong driving force for the development of bilateral ties, Meng said.The two countries have expanded their pragmatic cooperation in various fields and conducted effective cooperation on international and regional issues, he said.China values its traditional friendship with Uzbekistan and wishes to promote the friendly and cooperative partnership between the two countries.
