SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are searching for additional victims after arresting a man they say tried to drag a 17-year-old girl to his car in North Park in late May. According to police, the attempted kidnapping happened around 7:15 a.m. on the corner of 30th Street and El Cajon Boulevard May 31. Police say Thomas Luis Salas, 38, approached the 17-year-old at a bus stop before making casual conversation. He then extended his hand for a handshake and, when the juvenile shook his hand, police say Salas tried to grab her arm and pull her toward his light blue 2011 Ford Escape. The 17-year-old fought back and was able to get away. Investigators were able to track down and identify Salas as the suspect in the case. He was arrested on attempted kidnapping charges. His bail is set at 0,000. Police are asking additional victims to come forward. Salas is a Hispanic man five feet, nine inches tall and weighs 220 pounds. He was unshaven with a goatee. Police say Salas’ eyes have a “sleepy” appearance. He also has a large tattoo on his right arm of a cartoon face inside a “sunburst” or “Flame” design. According to police, Salas may have approached other juvenile women with his phone out attempting to engage in conversation. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Nearly one week after Election Day and with state Assemblyman Todd Gloria holding a comfortable lead, City Council President Pro Tem Barbara Bry conceded in the race for San Diego mayor.As of Nov. 9 vote totals, Gloria was leading Bry 56% to 46%.During a virtual press conference on Monday, Bry said she called Gloria the day before and offered her congratulations. Regarding the campaign, Bry said she felt voters were misled by the media and political ads from the opposition.Bry said, "I want to congratulate Todd Gloria as the next mayor of San Diego. He and I spoke by phone yesterday, and I offered him my congratulations. But for the next few years, our city faces many challenges because of COVID-19, and Mr. Gloria will have a tough job. Thousands of San Diegans are unemployed through no fault of their own and city revenues are declining."She added, "I wish those issues could have been more central to the mayoral campaign. We certainly tried to make them the focus of our communications. Unfortunately, interest groups supporting my opponent took a different approach.Perhaps inspired by the ‘fake news’ rhetoric coming out of Washington, they spent over million on TV commercials and mailers cynically designed to fool voters into thinking they were sponsored by our campaign. In times past, dishonest advertising of that sort would have been called out by responsible journalists, and voters would have been made aware of these cynical tactics. But the media -- like many citizens -- has become so desensitized to such tactics that they no longer pique their interest. And, unfortunately, these dishonest attacks clearly impacted our campaign."When asked if she would run for mayor again, Bry said she may not seek public office again. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Nearly two dozen children were hurt over the weekend after a platform collapsed at a San Diego indoor parkour gym.One of the people hurt said her 10-year-old son was one of her rescuers.It was kid’s night out, so most parents dropped their kids off. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - On Monday, San Diego City Attorney Mara Elliott announced that the courts officially ordered the closure of a notorious independent living facility home off Ewing Street in the College Area, following a lawsuit brought by the City last November.“The circumstances were egregious,” Elliott told ABC 10News on Monday. She said the facility is no longer allowed to operate anywhere in San Diego County.“It was filthy. There were bed bugs. There were roaches. The air quality was not good,” she added. Officers had reportedly been called out nearly 300 times for issues like disturbing the peace and suicide threats.Now, the facility’s manager, operator and owners are ordered to pay a collective 7,000 in fines and restitution for victims.Eric Ching represents the homeowners who claim they had no idea the property was being used as an independent living facility. “They’re in Hong Kong. They’re elderly…they own this property [and] have a property manager that was supposed to manage this property. They were unaware of this problem until last year,” he told ABC 10News.Generally, independent living facilities provide the most vulnerable people with a last chance for housing before becoming homeless. This house had ten people living inside using disability checks to pay rent of up to ,000 a month.Elliott said the closure was part of a bigger crackdown. “It is one of our biggest objectives at the City Attorney's Office. We feel like we're the office that can stand up for the little guy…the most vulnerable [person] who otherwise would have nobody else to call,” she added.Elliott said that the facility’s operator, Mark Rogers, is charged with elder abuse and threats in a separate criminal case, which is still unresolved in the courts.ABC 10 News reached out to the attorneys for the other parties involved and are waiting for replies. 1875

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Nearly 1,500 SDG&E customers were without power Saturday morning in the Mission Valley and Linda Vista areas.According to the electric company's outage map, at least 1,419 customers were without power beginning just after 2:30 a.m. The cause of the outage was not listed, only that there was "a need to repair SDG&E equipment," according to the map.Power restoration was estimated between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., an SDG&E spokesperson said.RELATED: SDG&E's power outage mapSDG&E said crews were out working to fix the outage. 569
