The U.S. dollar is cooling off after a red-hot surge.Though it rose in the weeks following President Trump's election victory last November, the greenback has steadily fallen this year. It's now down to its lowest level since January 2015. Since January 3, the first trading day, the dollar is down 11 percent.It's down nearly 17 percent against the Mexican peso this year, a reversal of fortunes after Trump's campaign threats caused the peso to plunge. The Republican Party announced tonight that President Donald Trump will accept the GOP nomination for president in Jacksonville, Florida. The convention was originally planned for Charlotte, North Carolina.The party could not receive assurances from North Carolina's Democratic governor that a ban on mass gatherings would not be lifted in time for the convention. North Carolina, like a number of other states, have limited mass public gathering during the spread of COVID-19.“We are thrilled to hold @realDonaldTrump 's acceptance of the Republican nomination in the great city of Jacksonville!” GOP chairperson Ronna McDaniel tweeted. “Not only is Florida his home state, it is crucial to victory. The U.S. government’s auto safety agency is investigating complaints that headlights can suddenly fail in some older Kia SUVs. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the probe covers about 392,000 Kia Sorento SUVs from the 2011 through 2013 model years. The agency says it has 74 reports of failures that may be related to connectors overheating. There were no reports of crashes or injuries. Some complaints allege that both headlights went out in the middle of turns or while traveling on the highway. In a statement, Kia says its cooperating, and its own investigation shows that both headlights have not gone dark at the same time. U.S. investigators will determine how often the problem happens and look into the safety consequences. 763

The Sarasota (Fla.)
