CAMP PENDLETON (KGTV) - A training accident on Camp Pendleton that left several Marines with severe burns may have been caused by an exposed gas line, a report from the Washington Post indicated Friday.Camp Pendleton officials said Marines from 1st Marine Division were conducting "scheduled battalion training" on land when a vehicle caught fire September 12.The 15 Marines were taken to various area hospitals.The vehicle involved was identified as an Assault Amphibious Vehicle (AAV) used to transport Marines from sea to land. The AAV performed a maneuver which caused it to run over a gas line, sever it with its tire treads, and ignite the line, the Washington Post reported.The official report on the fire has not yet been released by the Marine Corps. 777

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The U.S. government will pay Moderna Inc. up to .525 billion to secure 100 million doses of the company’s COVID-19 vaccine candidate.The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Department of Defense (DoD) made the announcement Tuesday.HHS says Moderna will manufacture the vaccine doses while clinical trials are still underway to expedite the traditional development timeline and get vaccines to the public as soon as possible.The Trump administration hopes to deliver the vaccines by the end of the year, so long as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorizes their use.“In creating a vaccine portfolio for Operation Warp Speed, the Trump Administration is increasing the likelihood that the United States will have at least one safe, effective vaccine by 2021,” said HHS Secretary Alex Azar. “Today’s investment represents the next step in supporting this vaccine candidate all the way from early development by Moderna and the National Institutes of Health, through clinical trials, and now large-scale manufacturing, with the potential to bring hundreds of millions of safe and effective doses to the American people.”HHS says the vaccine doses will be delivered to government-designated locations across the country and the U.S. could acquire up to an additional 400 million doses of the vaccine.If viable, the vaccines would be available to the American people at no cost, according to HHS. (AP) — Traffic was backed up for miles for thousands of drivers Friday night on a busy Los Angeles-area freeway after a chase that lasted well over an hour and saw the driver repeatedly back into police cruisers.At one point after backing into a cruiser, the man gestured from his window with what appeared to be a knife.The man drove onto Interstate 5 in Burbank the wrong way, eventually passed a police barrier and rammed into several cars before stopping.Police evacuated drivers from their cars while they had their guns trained on the car. The driver eventually got out. It appeared that officers used a stun gun on him, prompting him to get back into the car.A standoff pursued and eventually ended after the man got out of the car, laid down for a while and tried to run away. Raymond Orosa, his wife Jordan Chan, and their kids were celebrating her birthday on July 4th at the Lucia Restaurant & Bar in Carmel Valley, when they say a white man started yelling racist things about Asians.The incident was captured on a video that shows the man cursing and hurling racist insults and the server ordering him to leave."Trump is going f*ck you," the man is heard telling the group. "You f*cking Asian piece of sh*t.""The man in the video is Michael Lofthouse, a CEO of Bay Area-based cloud computing startup Solid8.In a statement issued to media, Lofthouse admits making the comments and says he will be reflecting on his behavior.“My behavior in the video is appalling,” the statement read. “This was clearly a moment where I lost control and made incredibly hurtful and divisive comments.
