There’s a new way to take an Uber and as long as you don’t mind a little walking it’s the cheapest option.Express Pool is the latest option for taking an Uber. Once you plug in your location, the new option will pop up on the bottom far left of your screen.A quick trial test of Express Pool found the service to be a dollar cheaper than Uber Pool. However, you'll have to walk a block or two to be picked up by your driver. The logic behind the new service is to help Uber drivers be able to drive in a straight line to pick up pool passengers. That way, there are no out-of-the-way stops. However, it could mean for a slower pickup time. Also, with any Pool ride from Uber, you will most likely share the ride with other riders.Despite walking out of the way and waiting a bit longer, a test of Express Pool still got riders to their destinations on time.  894

Those wanting to save some money by purchasing a used car may be in for sticker shock. The used vehicle market is seeing an “unseasonal sharp uptick due to unique market conditions” because of the coronavirus pandemic. This also means those with a used car sitting around could get top dollar for a trade-in or sale.Edmunds, which has been tracking automotive trends since the 60s, says the average used car listing price was 8 more in July than in June. Large trucks had the biggest one-month jump, with listing prices ,301 more in July than in June.Meanwhile, trade-ins are, on average, seeing 16.4 percent more value in July compared to June. And those used vehicles are not sticking around on the lots for long. In June, it was taking an average of 44 days to turn around a used car, and in July, it was down to 38 days. This is the steepest one-month decline in Edmunds history of keeping records."It's a seller's market right now. Although used vehicles continue to offer significant discounts compared to new, used-car shoppers will find themselves in the unusual position where they might not have as much negotiation power because demand is so high and dealers will be less inclined to be flexible," said Ivan Drury, Edmunds' senior manager of insights in a release from the company."If you're in the market for a used car, what you see in terms of pricing is likely what you're going to get, so do your research and be prepared to act quickly if you have your heart set on a vehicle."The reason behind the sharp increase in demand for used vehicles is for a variety of pandemic-related causes, says Drury.Consumers are being more cost-conscious right now as unemployment is high, interest rates and offers from dealers are favorable for car buying, and inventory has been “severely limited on the new side.”Automakers closed their factories for several weeks earlier this year as states issued stay-at-home orders to control the coronavirus pandemic. That led to a decline in inventory for new vehicles.Edmunds recommends buyers and sellers/traders do their homework and find out what the value of their specific vehicle is. 2146

There is a good chance this pandemic is having you go to the gas station less often. Fewer trips to the store, after all, means fewer fill-ups.While that may be good for your wallet, it's bad news for governments who rely on gas taxes to fund transportation construction projects. THE ISSUEFor every gallon of gas you buy, 18 cents goes to the federal government and the Highway Trust Fund. That money is then used to pay for transportation projects around the country. Additionally, each state imposes their own gas tax which can range from 14 cents to 57 cents per gallon of fuel. States use that money to fund transportation projects of their own. Simple economics suggest that when Americans drive less, there will be a loss in revenue for states. States are also losing money with sales taxes, tolls and DMV registrations, which is making a problem even worse. WHAT'S BEING CANCELED"The state is collecting less of that money," Alison Black, Chief Economist with the American Road & Transportation Builders Association, said. Black's organization has been tracking which states are cutting projects.Currently, 14 states have announced project delays or cancellations, valued at nearly .5 billion. These include Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Washington, and West Virginia. There are 19 local governments and authorities that have announced project delays or cancellations, totally more than .54 billion. Ten states or local areas have vetoed, canceled, or postponed legislative initiatives or ballot measures related to transportation funding because of the pandemic. This includes several major initiatives in California's self-help counties. RELIEF COMING?Many states are lobbying for Congress for a bailout, but that is far from certain. While President Donald Trump, this week, did cut environmental regulations to speed up infrastructure projects, his announcement doesn't address the funding gap. 2017

They've spent weeks trekking across Mexico, trying to reach the United States. But dozens of migrants will be deported and will never touch US soil, Mexican authorities said.About 500 migrants on the Mexican side of the border overwhelmed police blockades near the San Ysidro Port of Entry on Sunday, two journalists in Tijuana told CNN. That forced a temporary closure of the major border crossing into San Diego.Tijuana police said they arrested 39 people Sunday in connection with the attempt to cross the border illegally. Those identified as trying to rush the US border illegally will be processed for deportation in their home countries, Mexico's Interior Ministry said.On the US side, about 42 people who managed to cross the border were arrested, said Rodney Scott, chief patrol agent of the San Diego Sector Border Patrol."Only eight of those were females, and there were only a few children involved," he said. "The vast majority of the people we're dealing with are adult males."US President Donald Trump threatened to close the border "permanently if need be." He also claimed many of the migrants are "stone cold criminals," but gave zero evidence to support that claim."Mexico should move the flag waving Migrants, many of whom are stone cold criminals, back to their countries," Trump tweeted Monday. "Do it by plane, do it by bus, do it anyway you want, but they are NOT coming into the U.S.A. We will close the Border permanently if need be. Congress, fund the WALL! 1491

There's a nor'easter roaring toward the East Coast -- and it's a ferocious mix of howling winds, drenching rain, snow and surging waves. The storm is expected to knock out power, flood neighborhoods and destroy homes along the Atlantic coast Friday and Saturday. As the high tide advances, authorities are warning residents of coastal communities to be ready to evacuate."Take this storm seriously! This is a LIFE & DEATH situation for those living along the coast, especially those ocean-exposed shorelines," the National Weather Service in Boston tweeted.Like the nor'easter in January, it could undergo bombogenesis -- or become a "bomb cyclone" -- by dropping at least 24 millibars of atmospheric pressure in 24 hours. Some forecasters predict a sudden pressure plummet Friday evening off the Atlantic coast. Here's what to expect in the next few days:Coastal flooding 881
