San Diego County welcomed its first baby of 2019 at 12:04 a.m. Ainhara Abegail Banos was born at Scripps Mercy Hospital in Chula Vista at 7 pounds and 14 ounces. The bundle of joy is 20 inches tall. Her mother, Elizabeth Morales, said Ainhara's three older sisters can't wait to meet her. "They're waiting for her!" Morales said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV): A new study from the San Diego Military Advisory Council says the military industry in the area is the top economic driver.The SDMAC's "Military Economic Impact Study" says the armed forces spent billion in San Diego in 2018. That includes compensation for military employees (43%), procurement and other spending like defense contracts (38%) and retirement and veterans' benefits (19%).Additionally, the ripple effect of all that money creates billion worth of San Diego's Gross Regional Product. That's 22% and accounts for more than tourism or tech industries.The military also helps support 340,000 jobs in the county. That's 22% of the jobs across San Diego. It includes members of the Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, Reserves and civilians employed by the DOD, DHS or VA. It's the largest concentration of military employees anywhere in the world.There are also over 241,000 retirees or military veterans in the area, according to the study.Meanwhile, the study says the military's impact should grow in the future. It anticipated 4% growth next year.It could be more in the coming few years. President Trump recently announced a pay raise for military enlistees. He also signed a 7 billion defense budget for 2019, the largest ever. The Navy plans to homeport 20 more ships and approximately 15,000 more sailors to San Diego by 2025. And the Army has listed San Diego as a possible location for it's new "Future Command" post researching emerging technology.But the military faces some challenges in the coming years as well. Housing is a big issue, especially if the Navy wants to expand in San Diego. There are also concerns about the high cost of living in the area. And SDMAC says they're looking for ways to help military spouses find jobs. (KGTV) - An East County woman was devastated to find out the money she spent to buy a new cat likely went to con artists.“I just felt like I lost my sense of love for humanity,” Suzi Moon told Team 10. Moon’s Maine Coon cat, Teka, recently passed away. She was 15-years-old and a longtime member of her family.“He was the best cat ever,” Moon said. When he died, she was heartbroken.“I was in an emotional mode,” Moon said. “I wanted to get another one because I just was so used to that cat.”Moon searched online and found a website that advertised pure Maine Coone cats. She emailed the website and got a response. “They emailed me back and this cat that I saw on the website was a gray cat. Beautiful,” she said.She also spoke to someone on the phone, who sounded legitimate. The man asked her questions, such as whether or not she was having the cat indoors and if she was declawing the cat. Moon eventually scraped up 0 and sent the money through Zelle, something she now regrets.The day the supposed seller was supposed to ship the cat to her, he asked for more money for a special crate. “We need to have you cash app, send ,000 more,” Moon said. After back and forth with the seller and refusing to pay more, Moon said they eventually blocked her number. The 0 she paid was gone. The website, puremainecoons.com, is no longer active. Team 10 found the website on petscams.com, a site that bills itself as a pet watchdog website. The Better Business Bureau said pets are the top scam when it comes to online purchases. The average loss is 0. Moon wanted to share her mistake with others in hopes nobody else falls victim to this scam.“I just felt violated. There [are] people out there taking advantage like that. It’s disgusting,” Moon said.Team 10 called the person Moon said she spoke with about the cat. That man hung up before answering any questions. The BBB suggests do not buy a pet without seeing it in person. The organization also recommends conducting an internet search of the photo. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- California voters have rejected a ballot measure to require a doctor or highly trained nurse at each of California's 600 dialysis clinics.With more than 10 million votes tallied Tuesday, Proposition 23 had just 36% of votes.It drew more than 0 million in spending.Opponents, financed by dialysis clinic companies, say it would mandate that between two and three doctors at every facility, creating a financial burden that could lead some clinics to close.Proposition 23 was the second attempt by unions representing health care workers to increase regulation of dialysis clinics in California. 626

SAN DIEGO COUNTY (KGTV)-- Scattered showers sprinkled all across San Diego County Saturday, bringing with it up to a quarter inch of rain. While rain totals were not significant, it was the reason for hundreds of car accidents.At 11:40 AM, 10News found a passenger van flipped onto its side. The driver said he was turning onto the Home on-ramp on WB 94 when he hydroplaned and flipped over. With some help from good Samaritans, he was able to climb up out of the passenger side door. He was not hurt. There were no passengers. One of many solo spin-outs happened on the 163 S to the 8 E on-ramp. The driver said at around 12:30 PM, he lost control of his truck at the top of the loop, then smashed into the concrete barrier. He said he felt lucky he did not roll down into a 50-foot embankment like another car did just a few hours prior in the same spot.RELATED: Check today's San Diego forecast10News crews also saw countless fender benders and flatbed tow trucks roaming the highways. Mother nature also wreaked havoc onto herself. A three-car crash happened along Westbound 78 near the Nordahl Rd on-ramp in San Marcos. The small red vehicle ended up mangled, and the Prius somehow climbed up an embankment.
