BEIJING, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- China's top legislature Sunday initiated a nationwide inspection over Agricultural Techniques Promotion Law in an effort to boost the development of the country's vast rural area while ensuring the nation's food security.Three inspection teams from the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) will travel to six provinces and municipalities for supervision of the inspection in late August and September. Another eight teams from provincial level legislatures will be authorized to supervise the enforcement of the Agricultural Techniques Promotion Law and the Seed Law.Wu Bangguo, Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, said the inspection teams should push local governments forward to pay more attention to popularizing agricultural techniques, transform techniques into increased agricultural output and raise the incomes of farmers.Promoting agricultural techniques and increasing technology's contribution to agricultural development is the fundamental method to resolve the agricultural difficulties caused by limited resources and markets in China, said Uyunqimg, Vice Chairwoman of the NPC Standing Committee.The Agricultural Techniques Promotion Law was passed by the top legislature and began to be put into use in 1993, which aims at promoting more adoption of scientific and technological achievements in agricultural production to assure the modernization of the nation's agriculture.Statistics show the ratio of scientific and technological contributions to agricultural growth in China has increased from 26 percent in 1993 to 51 percent in 2009.

BEIJING, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- China will unswervingly promote the policy of reform and opening up, while creating sound environment for foreign companies operating in China, Vice Premier Wang Qishan told senior U.S. officials Monday.Wang exchanged views on China-U.S. ties and economic and trade cooperation with Lawrence Summers, head of U.S. President Barack Obama's National Economic Council, and Deputy National Security Adviser Tom Donilon, in a meeting in Beijing.Wang said the two countries should bolster cooperation in areas such as economy and trade, investment, finance, new energy and infrastructure upgrading, as their economies are interdependent and complimentary to each other.China is ready to work with the United States to well implement consensus reached by state leaders of the two countries, for sustainable, healthy and steady development of bilateral ties, he said.Wang said the international community should enhance cooperation because the world economy, though on the way to recovery, still encounters twists and turns.He said China is focusing on the change of the growth pattern for more balanced development of the economy.Summers and Donilon briefed Wang on the U.S. economy and the Obama administration's measures to stimulate the economy and create jobs.They stressed that the United States and China should strengthen coordination in macro policies and promote cooperation for a strong, balanced and sustainable growth of global economy.Also on Monday, Li Yuanchao, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met with the two U.S. officials.Li, also head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, said the Sino-U.S. ties had maintained a stable development since President Obama took office.China would work with the United States to enhance dialogues and cooperation, while properly handling the differences, to push forward the bilateral ties, he said.8 Summers said the United States attached great importance to the U.S.-Sino relations and firmly believed that the two countries had broad interests and faced with common challenges, including sustainable development of global economy, regional security and climate change.He said the United States was committed to working with China for a positive, cooperative and comprehensive relationship in the 21st century.Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi also met with Summers and Donilon on Monday. BEIJING, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan Monday pledged to work with Cuba to lift the friendly bilateral relationship to a new level.Wang made the remarks while meeting with Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, Vice President of the Council of Ministers of Cuba.Cabrisas is in China to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two nations.Cuba was the first Latin American nation to forge diplomatic relations with China, in 1960.Wang spoke highly of the development of China-Cuba ties over the past half a century, noting that the two countries have always supported each other and enjoyed frequent high level visits.China will work with Cuba to expand win-win cooperation and strengthen economic and trade links with a view to further advancing bilateral ties, Wang said.Wang said China will continue to help Cuba within its capacity.Cabrisas thanked China for offering economic and technological assistance to his country.He said Cuba will make concerted efforts with China to promote pragmatic cooperation in various sectors while pushing forward the existing sound bilateral relationship.
