The acting director of the Office of Government Ethics said in a letter to a Democratic member of Congress that the White House Counsel's office is looking into whether Jared Kushner violated any laws when he met with business entities which later loaned more than 0 million to his company.In the letter dated March 22, OGE director David Apol said, "The White House informed me that they had already begun this process. Starbucks says it has developed a solution to block customers from viewing pornography on its free public Wi-Fi.The coffee giant originally promised to block pron sites in 2016 as soon as it developed a system to block graphic sites. Starbucks has not divulged details on how its content filtering system will work.According to Business Insider, Starbucks' policy change comes after a petition issued by an internet safety group Enough Is Enough garnered 26,000 signatures. The group's CEO, Donna Rice Hughes, claims that by allowing unfiltered Wi-Fi, Starbucks was "keeping the doors wide open for convicted sex offenders and others to fly under the radar from law enforcement and use free, public Wi-Fi services to access illegal child porn and hard-core pornography."Starbucks said in a statement to The Verge that “While it rarely occurs, the use of Starbucks public Wi-Fi to view illegal or egregious content is not, nor has it ever been permitted...We have identified a solution to prevent this content from being viewed within our stores and we will begin introducing it to our US locations in 2019.”According to Enough Is Enough, Starbucks was lagging behind other restaurant chains like McDonald's and Subway, both of which banned pornography on their Wi-Fi networks in 2016.Alex Hider is a writer for the E.W. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — New unredacted court documents reveal Aaron Glee Jr., who is accused in the murder of Oluwatoyin "Toyin" Salau and Vicki Sims, confessed to killing the young activist and community volunteer.The documents also detail how Sims and Glee knew each other and how all three of them briefly met on June 6.Probable cause documents state that when officers responded to Glee's home in the 2100 block of Monday Road on June 13, they found Vicki Sims' car stuck in the mud outside of the home. They say a sheet was placed over the back of the Toyota and the license plate was bent up, hiding the license plate number.When they went inside, they found 75-year-old Vicki Sims' body. Investigators say her arms and feet were tied up behind her.As they continued searching Glee's home, they found 19-year-old Oluwatoyin "Toyin" Salau's body. Documents say her body appeared to be "purposely" covered with leaves and other vegetation.According to documents, when officers spoke to Sims' family prior to the discovery of her body, they said that Sims "often prepared meals for 'Aaron'" and delivered them to his home."It was reported that 'Aaron,' who did not own his own vehicle, often obtained transportation from Sims," probable cause documents read.As police continued investigating, they learned that, about two hours before the bodies were discovered, Glee had bought a bus ticket to West Palm Beach. On June 14, Glee was detained by the Orlando Police Department at a Greyhound station.After complaining about having trouble breathing, Glee was taken to the hospital. That's where documents say he voluntarily confessed to the murders; once to officers who were guarding him and again to his mother in a phone call.When TPD officers interviewed him, Glee confessed to kidnapping and murdering Salau and Sims on different dates.Glee said that on June 6, he was at a bus stop on Apalachee Parkway when he met Salau. He said they talked for about an hour.During that time, he said Salau told him that she had been recently sexually assaulted and didn't have a permanent place to stay. After that, Glee agreed to go with Salau to his home so she could bathe and rest."Glee stated that he then placed a telephone call to Sims, and that she came and picked he and Salau up in her Toyota," documents read. According to investigators, Glee's story was corroborated by surveillance video.After Sims dropped them off, Glee said she left and Salau went inside the home to take a shower. After Salau got out of the shower, Glee said he "attempted to engage her in sexual activity."He told officers that Salau physically resisted him, biting him on the arm."Glee said he physically overpowered Salau... He was asked if he would characterize his actions as rape," investigators wrote in the documents. "Glee responded in the affirmative."Glee said that he then kept Salau inside the home for approximately three to five days. He told officers that he was heavily under the influence of alcohol during that time, so he was unsure exactly how much time had passed."Glee stated that he was aware he would be arrested and likely sentenced to prison if he allowed Salau to leave the residence," documents read. "Glee indicated he determined that his only course of action was to end her life."So, Glee said he tied her up in a way that made it difficult for her to breathe.Based on the evidence and Glee's confession, officers found probable cause to charge him with two counts of kidnapping and two counts of murder (second degree murder and premeditated murder), and one count of sexual assault.During a court appearance on Saturday, a judge ruled that Glee will be held in jail without bond.This story was originally published by staff at WTXL. 3747

And between the shipping delays and the call to stay at home this holiday season, the ways people can gift -- especially last minute -- are limited.AAA predicts that 34 million fewer Americans are travelling this holiday season compared to last year.“People are realizing or have realized over the last month that they had to change how they approach the holiday season,” Darrin Duber-Smith, a consumer behavior expert and professor at Metropolitan State University of Denver, said.Part of that is thanks to e-commerce. The IBM U.S. retail index shoes the pandemic has accelerated the move toward online shopping by five years.The National Retail Federation predicts that 60 percent of holiday shopping with be done online this year, up from 56 percent in 2019.“Our buying patterns have shifted almost entirely online over the last 9 months,” Duber-Smith said. “So many more goods and services are now available online. So many more than even a year ago, so I think consumers have a lot more choices that they can send.”However, the flower bouquets and gift cards can seem impersonal.“I really think all bets are off during the pandemic, but there’s going to be lasting effects in consumer attitude and behavior going forward,” he said. “Getting a gift basket that may or may not have a holiday greeting on it is becoming the norm.”“It’s an hour of work to send someone a gift,” Edward Lando, co-founder of Goody Technologies, said. “If you think about it, you need someone’s address. You need to pick out a gift. You need to make sure if you can add a note. Student loan borrowers are getting another break.A recent executive order signed by President Trump extends the suspension of payments and interest on federally-held student loans from September 30 to December 31, but certain details are still unclear.“The language isn’t super clear, so we student loan nerds are anxiously awaiting the Department of Education’s guidance, which we are expecting in the next couple of weeks for sure,” said Betsy Mayotte with The Institute of Student Loan Advisors (TISLA).Borrowers have reported their loan servicers are also awaiting direction from the Department of Education.Aside from a break in payments, Mayotte said there are programs borrowers in default should take advantage of during this COVID period.“Loan rehabilitation is kind of an awesome and unique thing for the federal student loan program. If you make nine consecutive on-time payments in an amount that’s based on your income, so the payments can be as low as , not only are you taken out of default, but they remove the default line from your credit report like it was never there.
