TOKYO, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- China and Japan reached consensus on a wide range of issues including fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, promoting economic recovery and supporting each other in hosting the Olympic Games, visiting Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said here on Tuesday.

He said China hopes the Summit will enhance cooperation in upholding multilateralism and improving global governance, putting life first and building a global community of health for all, enhancing macro-economic policy coordination and promoting global economic recovery, and placing development front and center in international cooperation.

Xi's remarks illustrate China's determination to transform itself into an eco-friendly green economy and advance global sustainable development, said Magdy Allam, a climate and environment expert.

In meeting the climate challenge, no one can be aloof and unilateralism will lead nowhere, Xi said. "Only by upholding multilateralism, unity and cooperation can we deliver shared benefits and win-win results for all nations."

Stressing that Taiwan is part of China, Zhu said that any country that has diplomatic relations with China should not discuss or sign any official agreements and deals related to sovereignty with Taiwan.
