SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The ridesharing company, Lyft, is donating hundreds of thousands of dollars in ride credits to immigration groups throughout the country, including one in San Diego County. The company made the donation announcement on Monday, donating 0,000, calling the campaign "America is an Idea, Not a Geography." The Minority Humanitarian Foundation in Spring Valley received roughly ,000 in ride credits. The foundation's founder, Mark Lane, says the company's donation is a game changer for his organization. Lane explains that the money previously spent on rides can now go towards other things like food, clothing and other supplies. 10News spoke to multiple Lyft drivers in San Diego who said they wouldn't mind providing rides to migrants, as long as their pay didn't change. A few Lyft users told 10News they don't agree with Lyft's donation but said they would still continue to use the service.During the month of July, Lyft is also matching donations to RAICES up to ,000. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The US Census is looking to hire thousands of people in San Diego, and hoping that /hour and flexible schedules are enough to entice people to apply."It takes a community to count a community," says Census Outreach Specialist David Bennett. "We're trying to count everybody once, only once, in the right place. We need help."Right now, the Census is putting on a hiring blitz around the country, with half-a-million jobs to fill. They're canvassing college campuses and other public places where people may be looking for a part-time job."It's for people, especially in this gig-economy, who are looking to get some extra money and be a part of history," says Bennett.Jobs range from counters who will go door to door to management. They can last anywhere from 6 weeks to two years. Pay starts at .50/hour."It's so important," says Bennett. "Our founders wanted to make sure our government looked like our citizens. That's why we do the Census."To be eligible, you must be a US Citizen, 18 years or older, and available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week. Bennett says there are some exceptions if you're not a citizen but speak a foreign language that can help with the count.Applications take about 10 minutes to complete and can be done online or over the phone. 1303

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The rapid rise in housing cost is beginning to cool in San Diego County, at least for now according to Zillow.Over the last year, home values rose six percent, down from more than eight percent a year ago. The Zillow report also found that home values are also rising slower than average.The trend may be welcome news for renters. Over the last year, rent rose only one percent to an average of ,540. At this time last year, rents were rising at a dizzying 3.5 percent annually.Even though price increases are slowing, the median home value in San Diego is still 4,100. 602
