KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Jeff Henry, one of the men charged in the death of 10-year-old Caleb Schwab at Schlitterbahn water park, did not appear with his attorney in court Thursday, Dec. 13.His attorney stated Henry is at an inpatient facility in Houston, Texas. He asked the judge to stay his bench warrant until Jan. 24, 2019 when Henry returns for his other case. The attorney said Henry, a co-owner of Schlitterbahn, will begin an intensive outpatient program while in Houston. Henry is accused of allegedly arranging for a human trafficker to bring a woman to him at a hotel room in July 2018, a day after he was in court for the Schlitterbahn case.Part of the payment to the trafficker included passes to the water park, documents say.The state told the judge they were fine with the suggestion from Henry's attorney to stay his bench warrant since they have been in touch with authorities there and they say they have had no issues with Henry.Henry has a ,000 cash and surety bond and is under house arrest.Schwab died Aug. 6, 2016 from a neck injury sustained while he was on the 17-story Verrückt water slide with two other park goers. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police shot and killed a man who fired at officers outside a burning Kansas City home early Monday morning. Investigators said they later found a woman dead inside the house, after first discovering a dead woman outside, according to KCPD.A police spokesperson said several people were involved in a shooting around 2 a.m. In an update at 4:45 a.m., police said officers shot and killed an "active shooter" outside the home.“The suspect came out the house, fired shots at the officers who returned fire, stopping the suspect. The house started smoking. The fire department put out the fire and discovered another body,” explained Captain Lionel Colon with KCPD.Police said the house fire appeared to have been set intentionally but did not provide details on whether it was related to the shooting. It was not immediately clear how the victims died or what led up to the shooting. Police did not immediately identify anyone involved in the incident.A woman who identified herself as the aunt of the man police killed told 41 Action News her nephew killed her niece and the mother of his child. Even eight hours after the shooting, crime scene tape covered a block in each direction around an intersection, not far from the Truman Sports Complex. At one point, police had tape tied to Sarah Jones’s home. She said she got home late from work Sunday night and was still awake when gunshots erupted. She called police and a few minutes later heard another round of gunfire. “I got the kids, told them to get to the lowest point of the house. We were trying to get down to the basement just crawling across the floor. It was very scary,” Jones explained. She said police officers escorted her three children around the crime scene tape to the bus stop Monday morning. 1820

Joe Biden will be meeting with the family of Jacob Blake during his visit to Wisconsin on Thursday. The family's attorney confirmed the update to TMJ4 on Wednesday.Biden is expected to visit Kenosha on Thursday with his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, just two days after President Donald Trump was there. The visit was announced Wednesday morning. On Tuesday, President Trump surveyed damage and met with law enforcement. He did not meet with Blake's family while he was in Wisconsin. During a news conference ahead of the visit, the president said the family had wanted to involve lawyers in their conversation. "And I thought that was inappropriate, so I didn't do that. But I did speak with the pastor of the family," Trump said.Former Vice President Biden is scheduled to visit Kenosha on Thursday, a little less than a month after he took part in the virtual Democratic National Convention. Biden did not travel to Milwaukee during the convention due to coronavirus concerns.During an education event on Wednesday, Biden told media that he has received "overwhelming requests" from Democratic leaders to visit Wisconsin."What we want to do is -- we've got to heal. We've got to put things together. Bring people together," Biden said during the address, CNN reported. When asked why he was traveling to Wisconsin, only the third time in recent months in which he's gotten on a plane, Biden said his message was still getting out."A President has a responsibility to set examples- set the right example of how to get out. To wear a mask, not be in a potential cauldron for significant COVID outbreaks.," said Biden. "What I've done is met...with medical experts. We worked out a protocol, how I get on a plane, how it's sanitized, how I engage people. It's always at a safe distance. Everybody's wearing masks. The vast majority of people I'm meeting with are all tested as well. I'm just trying to set the example. Wearing protective gear, the mask, making sure we proceed with adequate social distancing"The specific details for Biden's visit have not been released yet.Following the announcement of the Biden's visit, the Republican Party of Wisconsin issued the following statement:“It shouldn’t take rioters burning down the City of Kenosha to get Joe Biden to visit our state. Joe Biden made COVID excuses as to why he couldn’t visit Wisconsin, but the seven-day average of new COVID cases in Wisconsin remains nearly unchanged compared to the DNC week. This desperation trip is about Biden’s support slipping as violent anti-Trump protestors are creating chaos around the country."This story originally reported by Jackson Danbeck on tmj4.com. 2651
