SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Crews Thursday rescued a woman they say broke her leg while hiking above Blacks Beach.According to authorities, the incident happened around 2 p.m. in the Box Canyon area. Lifeguards say a woman in her 20s fell while hiking in the area and broke her leg.A helicopter could be seen lifting the woman from the canyon and taking her to a nearby hospital.Her condition is unknown at this time. 417

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- California and 13 other states filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration Thursday, seeking to block changes to the federal food stamp program that would put 380,000 Californians at risk of losing benefits.The lawsuit claims the Trump administration failed to follow proper procedure and is undermining the intent of the food stamp program, known in California as CalFresh."No one should have to choose between a hot meal and paying their rent," said California Attorney General Xavier Becerra in a statement. It follows Wednesday's news that California lawmakers approved a proposal to repeal the 25-year-old law that bans looking at race, sex, ethnicity, color or national origin in college admissions, contracting and public employment.“The NAACP San Diego branch is elated that it was a 30-10 vote. Two-thirds majority said that things have to change and we're headed to November,” she added.Assemblymember Shirley Weber (D-San Diego) authored the bill and asked for support on ACA 5, which lets voters decide whether to reinstate affirmative action by repealing Prop 209.“The ongoing pandemic as well as recent tragedies of police violence is forcing Californians to acknowledge the deep-seated inequality and far-reaching institutional failures that show that race and gender still matters,” she told her colleagues this week.“African Americans have been at the bottom for over 401 years. Affirmative action was an opportunity so they could open the door to walk into colleges, to [have] the opportunity of economics, to change the narrative of their family,” Maxwell told ABC10 News.Republican Assembly candidate June Cutter from San Diego opposes the return of affirmative action. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- County health officials have identified the woman who may have come into contact with a bat that tested positive for rabies at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.According to the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency, one person, and possible others, were exposed to rabies on September 6.The county says a bat was seen flying around a previously unidentified woman around 11:30 a.m. at the Mombasa Cooker at Nairobi Village.The bat was later collected and submitted to health officials for testing. It was later determined that the bat was infected with rabies.The agency says the bat wasn’t part of the park’s collection of animals."Any other visitors who may have come in direct contact with a bat at the location and time described below should contact County Health and Human Services," the agency said. 847
