PATERSON, N.J. -- A tiny poodle named Bear is clinging to life after being tossed from a vehicle in New Jersey over the weekend, a local shelter said.The Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge described the dog as emaciated and matted when he was found lying in the street "after being discarded like trash," the shelter wrote on Facebook. It appears he suffered "a lifetime of neglect," they wrote.The dog was thrown from a car window around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, near 927 Market St. in Paterson, the social media post said.As of Sunday morning, the poodle was in the intensive care unit at Oradell Animal Hospital in Paramus.The shelter said Bear suffered pelvic fractures, skin lesions from road rash and a possible herniated diaphragm. PACIFIC BEACH (CNS) - Firefighters were able to put out a garage fire in Pacific Beach on Saturday.The fire was first reported at 2:05 p.m. in a detached garage at a house on Kendall Street near Roosevelt Avenue, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. Crews had the fire knocked down a little before 2:30 p.m., a fire dispatcher said.No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. 426

(KGTV) - A Pine Valley restaurant owner is defying San Diego County orders to move his restaurant outside, saying he will continue to ignore the purple tier rules to keep his business afloat.When it was announced that San Diego County would move into the more restrictive purple tier, Major’s Diner owner Larry McNamer told ABC 10News he had plans to stay open inside, even though all restaurants are required to move outside completely. He stayed true to his word, operating indoors, saying he still follows social distancing practices, but needs the inside space because his restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch, and the winter months bring temperatures in the 30s for the mountain community.“They’re saying they wanted us back outside and we said no absolutely not, not going to do it,” said McNamer.RELATED: "We are over it." Police Chief Mike Koval in Madison, Wisconsin arrested WISC-TV Meteorologist Dave Caufield during a live newscast for "stealing spring," according to the station.Koval and Capt. Cory Nelson 'arrested' Caufield for charges of spreading false hope for warmer weather and not following through on promises."You are so infatuated with breaking records that we believe you are instigating this prolonged pain and misery," Koval said.Caufield said he's taking the fall for Mother Nature's crimes.Although we're all upset about the weather, the only one to blame here is Mother Nature herself. People who own a 2015, 2016 or 2017 Ram pickup truck may be affected by a new Fiat Chrysler recall.The company says tailgates with power locks could unexpectedly open, and it issued a recall for Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickups from the 2015 through 2017 model years. The opening may happen while trucks are moving.Dealers will fix the mechanism for those who bring the recalled trucks in. The recall begins Sept. 14, according to the Associated Press. 469
