ALGIERS, April 2 (Xinhua) -- The 13th Escort Taskforce of the Chinese Navy arrived Tuesday in Algiers, capital of Algeria, beginning a four-day visit to the country.
Visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, attended the opening ceremony. Analysts say the attendance of the two countries' presidents will hopefully provide a boost for the tourism business.
He also quoted Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, chairperson of the African Union Commission, by noting that China has greatly helped Africa maintain its robust growth despite the international financial crisis.
The UNEP chief noted that the October Global South-South Expo to be hosted by the agency and China will offer an opportunity for countries to share knowledge, technologies and innovations that drive a green economy.
