HANOI, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- A trade fair was held in Vietnam's capital city of Hanoi on Saturday with participation of companies from Vietnam and China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.At the fair, more than 100 companies from China's Guangxi brought here nearly 200 projects in various sectors including resources development, agriculture products processing, agricultural machinery production, sugar production and high technology.Ma Biao, chairman of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region said at the fair that Guangxi and Vietnam have seen strengthened trade and economic links in recent years.Vietnam has been Guangxi's largest trade partner for eleven years, said Ma. Vietnam is also a major destination for Guangxi's outbound investment.Ma said he is confident that cooperation between Guangxi and Vietnam will be further expanded and enriched in the coming time.A total of 64 cooperation agreements were inked at the fair, with the estimated value of 1.96 billion U.S. dollars.The trade fair is part of the activities held during Ma's six- day visit in Vietnam. Ma is leading a 1,000-member delegation here for trade and culture promotion.

DUBLIN, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Visiting senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Li Changchun on Monday met with Irish President Mary McAleese and Prime Minister Brian Cowen to discuss bilateral relations.Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, said that bilateral relations have developed steadily since China and Ireland established diplomatic relations. TIANJIN, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- A senior Chinese legislator on Saturday said China is drafting a law to act to combat climate change, a move that signals the country's proactive role in honoring its commitment to curtailing emissions, among other measures, in tackling climate change."The responsibility of lawmakers is to urge the government to take concrete steps to meet its promises," Chen Zhili, vice chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), told experts attending a two-day forum on climate change legislation being held in Tianjin beginning Saturday.Chen said despite a broad range of government issues, China is taking serious measures in dealing with climate change and has achieved remarkable progress.Chen said lawmakers will particularly base China's climate change legislation on a resolution passed by the NPC last August.The resolution says China will adhere to "the basic framework" set up in the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), signed by more than 150 countries in 1992, and the Kyoto Protocol, agreed to in 1997 by the majority of the international community, to set binding targets for developed countries to reduce CO2 emissions, along with the principles of UNFCCC-endorsed "common but differentiated responsibilities" as well as "sustainable development."Chen said many developing countries are gravely suffering from the damage caused by extreme weathers this year. The international community should provide greater support to these countries in terms of finance, technical support, and capability building to boost their ability to deal with natural disasters.More than 60 lawmakers and law experts from 16 countries and regions are participating in the Tianjin forum on climate change legislation, co-hosted by the NPC and Global Legislators Organization for a Better Environment.

The Palestinian National Authority has made clear that it will enter the parley only if Israeli government extends the freeze.Regarding the Palestinian internal reconciliation, the envoy said that China supports the reconciliation process, urging the Palestinian fractions to resolve their differences through dialogue and negotiation.During the meeting, Abbas speaks highly of the active role that China has played in promoting the Middle East peace process, and China's long-term support and assistance to the Palestinians.The Palestinian side is willing to, with the support of relative parties and international community, make efforts to solve the difficulties facing the peace talks and push the negotiations to move in a positive direction.Wu also met with Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Malki and Chief Negotiator Saeb Erekat on Thursday, after holding talks with Israeli officials one day earlier.
