(KGTV) - Famed stage and screen actor John Leguizamo returns to the La Jolla Playhouse, this time behind the scenes as the co-writer and creative mind behind the new show, "Kiss My Aztec."This is Leguizamo's third show at the LJP. His previous two, "Latin History for Morons" and "Ghetto Klown" both went on to Broadway.But those were one-man shows; "Kiss My Aztec" is a full-size musical production."San Diego's always been great for me," Leguizamo told 10News while promoting the show. "It's a really well-trained theater audience that knows how to watch a work in progress.""Kiss My Aztec" tells the story of a group of Aztec rebels as they fight against Spanish colonization in the 16th century. It's a pretty heavy subject that deals with the loss of their culture, but Leguizamo shows it as a musical comedy and a love story."I felt like the Aztec conquest was ripe with musicality," he said."We're investigating Latin identity," said director Tony Taccone. "We are kind of in the past, but we're speaking directly to the audience right now.""People need to laugh right now," Taccone added. LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. (KABC) -- A California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer was killed after being hit by a vehicle on the 15 Freeway in Lake Elsinore Saturday. The officer was hit by a sedan near Nichols Road at about 4:30 p.m. and airlifted to a hospital, prompting a closure of the southbound lanes. The officer killed was identified by CHP in a social media post as Sgt. Steve Licon. "Our hearts are heavy after the immeasurable loss of a friend, father, husband, and hero," the social media post said. The southbound lanes of the freeway were fully closed from Indian Truck Trail to Nichols Road due to a police investigation, Caltrans said. One alternative route is the 91 east to the 215 south, connecting back with I-15 in Murrieta.Injuries sustained by the driver in the sedan were not immediately known. 824

LAS VEGAS — Neighbors in the southwest part of Las Vegas are fed up over the wild scenes playing out in their area which have included flame throwers, rocket launchers, strippers and buses full of people as the Strip's night and day clubs remain closed.For weeks, Las Vegas police have been dealing with a sharp rise in complaints regarding "party houses," some of which have been the scenes for shootings and murders.Neighbors near one home on Sunset Road and Jones Boulevard say they are living next to a nightmare."It's a party going madhouse out here," Tony Grant said.Grant and his wife Nanette, who is battling breast cancer, say the for past six months, people have been arriving to their neighborhood by bus, car and rideshares.Videos shows dozens, if not hundreds, of people at the home, which at times includes laser light shows, loud music and nearly-naked women.Online, the venue is billed as a day and nightclub available for gatherings and parties for ,500 a day."There's fire-based entertainment, including flamethrowers, and rocket launchers that are being set off within obviously 10- to 15-feet of 50-foot pine trees and homes," Hadas Grant said.Online records show Las Vegas police have taken more than a half dozen reports for "disturbing the peace" in the 5800 block of Patrick Lane since April 2020.Records obtained by Clark County show authorities have placed administrative actions on the home, and fines have totaled 0.The Grants say the gatherings have continued."On the day the citation was placed on the door, that Tuesday night was one of the largest gatherings or events that they've ever had, they're laughing in the face of code enforcement," Tony Grant said.Interview requests to the group promoting the gatherings were not returned. Legislation requiring shoppers to wear masks in New Jersey stores is one step closer to becoming law.A bill proposed by state Democratic lawmakers got the stamp of approval from a New Jersey Assembly committee Thursday.If passed, customers could be fined between and 0 for being in a business without a mask that covers the nose and mouth. The bill would apply to any store that has posted signage saying masks are required.Assembly Democrats who backed the bill called the legislation "a matter of life and death" and said there needs to be a penalty for those who don't do their part to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.Republican lawmakers called the bill ludicrous and an attack on residents' civil liberties.Some suggested a better policy would be for businesses to refuse to serve customers who choose not to wear masks.Hoboken, New Jersey tried to pass a similar mask ordinance in August, attempting to fine people 0 for not wearing a mask in any place where social distancing was not possible. It ultimately did not pass.In New York City, MTA riders can now be fined for refusing to wear a mask on buses, subways and trains.As of midnight in Connecticut, anyone can now be fined 0 for violating mask and social distancing orders. Gov.
