SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego grocery store employees rallied Friday due to ongoing negotiations with Kroger affecting some 50,000 workers at Ralphs, Vons and Albertsons in Southern California. “Workers have been without a contract since March, and after 26 failed negotiation sessions are demanding action,” said Todd Walters, President of UFCW Local 135.Some 200 workers were joined at Friday’s rally in Mission Hills by the Teamsters Joint Council 42, who agreed to stop all grocery product deliveries in the event of a strike, union leaders reported.“The negotiations process can take time to reach reasonable solutions that are best for our associates, our communities and our company,” said a spokesperson from Ralphs.The grocery store agreed to meet with the unions from Aug. 22 - 25 to continue negotiations. 823

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego County health officials Monday echoed Governor Gavin Newsom’s demand to close more businesses as coronavirus intensifies.The state announced Monday that it was closing indoor operations for places of worship, restaurants, wineries, movie theatres and family entertainment, zoos, museums, cardrooms, fitness centers, some offices, personal care services, hair salons and barbershops, and malls. All bars were also ordered to close."We are moving back into a modification mode of our stay-at-home order," Newsom said. The new order takes effect in San Diego at midnight Wednesday morning. The announcement comes as 419 more people throughout the county tested positive for coronavirus Monday. And service is a big part of the job for Bishop Donnie McGriff. “It’s not a job it’s not a profession. It’s a ministry. And that’s what I do. I love it,” says Bishop McGriff.And serve the Bishop has for nearly 60 years, starting right out of high school in the Navy. He served his community as a UPS driver. And for over 30 years, he has served in what he calls his ultimate role as the leader of his church. What was his calling?“I think I found out at an early age that my purpose or destiny was to serve,” says Bishop McGriff with a smile.The Bishop serves in so many ways with his congregation. They collect food for the less fortunate. He even founded a Christian based University focusing on Theology and Entrepreneurship. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Resources are available throughout San Diego County for victims of domestic violence who believe their situation may turn life threatening.“There’s nothing more tragic than this happening. This is exactly what we never want to see happen again,” said Heather Finlay with the YWCA. Finlay says she was devastated after learning of the mother and her children killed over the weekend. YWCA offers an emergency shelter and transitional housing for parents and families dealing with domestic violence. According to SANDAG, in 2018, more than 17,000 domestic violence incidents were reported in San Diego County. “Leaving an intimate partnership is never easy especially if there are children involved,” said Yvette Lopez-Cooper with the San Diego Family Justice Center. The order doesn’t become active until the abuser is served and made aware of the action. “Many times, these court orders do work and the violent behaviors stops. A safety care plan includes having a packed bag somewhere safe with clothes and copies of personal documents and planning an escape route. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Residents of several inland North County communities tell 10News they are fed up with the numerous delays which have led to a series of road improvement projects to take more than two years to complete.The most impactful is the widening of Rancho Bernardo Road between I-15 and Bernardo Center Drive.Work on that stretch began in February of 2017 and was projected to take six to seven months. It's almost a year past that point.
