This past weekend, they held an event offering , 14-inch pizzas to all customers. "It's trying times for everyone so we figured it was something fun and the least we could do to try and help everyone out, from families that are out of work, to industry employees, to our first responders," Yankle added. It hits home a little more because its people you see everyday that you're friends with," Yankle said.The dollar pizza party lasted two hours but created long-lasting memories that everyone needs at a time like this. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diegans could be in store to begin receiving checks from the federal government in April, according to a proposal released Wednesday. The proposal, from Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, is part of a plan to stimulate the economy as the coronavirus outbreak continues to lead the nation toward a recession. The checks, which could be upwards of ,000 or more, could come in April and May. The money could help San Diego workers who are seeing their hours reduced or jobs eliminated get by while efforts continue to flatten the curve. "It's not going to solve the problem, but the whole strategy here is to get over the hump and hope that like China and like South Korea and some of the other Asian countries, this virus will hang around for only two to three months," said Lynn Reaser, chief economist at Point Loma Nazarene University. The federal government last issued stimulus checks during the Great Recession of 2008, after the housing market crashed. The Bush Administration sent checks of up to 0 to individuals and up to ,200 to married couples at a time when businesses were open, unlike during this era where there are very few places to spend the money. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police are investigating what led to the death of a man while in police custody last week in Paradise Hills.Police said 39-year-old Guillermo Corrales was arrested on April 16 in the 6300 block of Clyde Ave. after reports of a relative becoming violent. Corrales had possibly used narcotics, according to police.Corrales was placed in handcuffs and medically evaluated by first responders.During the evaluation, Corrales went into cardiac arrest, according to police, and he was taken to a nearby hospital and placed on life support.He died from his injuries on Thursday.San Diego Police homicide detectives are investigating the incident as a possible custody death. 724

  

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Rep. Duncan Hunter is set to resign later this month, he announced Tuesday. According to a letter sent to Governor Gavin Newsom, the resignation will be effective close of business day on January 13, 2020. “It has been an honor to serve the people of California’s 50th District, and I greatly appreciate the trust they have put in me over the last 11 years,” Hunter concludes in the letter to Governor Gavin Newsom. Ammar Campa-Najjar, the Democratic challenger for the 50th District seat, said in a statement he is focused on moving forward with the race for the seat."Yesterday, I called on Congressman Hunter to resign immediately, today he finally tendered his resignation. Hunter should've resigned weeks ago, and shouldn't wait until January 13th to resign. What's done is done, now it's time for the constituents of CA-50 to pick up the pieces and move forward together.
