PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — Using animals like dogs and horses for therapy when it comes to PTSD is fairly common, but there is a Vietnam veteran in Pinellas County who is using Birds of Prey.“When I feel worthless they remind me that I have a purpose, they give me a reason to get up even on my bad days,” said Ria Warner.Warner is married to a military veteran and also suffers from her own past trauma. She said when she started bonding with Birds of Prey, like Thunder the Bald Eagle, she felt like she had grown a pair of wings herself.“They help me to identify little things before like an anxiety attack or depression would set in, so they’ll help you find those triggers before they get pulled,” said Warner.Over the past seven years, Patrick Bradley has paired dozens of different species with more than 4,000 military veterans and their families.“The raptors are apex predators, so are soldiers, number two, the raptors were hurt, so were soldiers, so they bonded quicker,” said Bradley.All of the birds come from wildlife rehabilitation organizations. Their injuries deemed too severe to be released back into the wild.“We don’t hand veterans right from the wild our animals, these birds have been vetted by us,” said Bradley.Bradley credits the bald eagle for saving his own life after returning from Vietnam. PITTSBURGH - A US Postal Service employee is on leave after bags of undelivered mail were found on the side of the street for trash pick-up outside a home near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, according to multiple reports.Several bags were reported to the US Postal Service Office of Inspector General Sunday and they are investigating.An agent with the USPS OIG says the bags contained a variety of mail.“USPS OIG Special Agents recovered several different classes of mail, including business mail, flats, and small amount of first class mail. We expect to perform a piece count of the mail today, and make arrangements to have the mail delivered to customers as soon as feasible,” Special Agent Scott Balfour said in a statement released Tuesday.“Once USPS OIG special agents conclude their investigation, the case will be presented for federal prosecution to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.”A post office employee is on leave without pay in connection with this investigation.This is the second time in just the last week a mail person is under investigation for allegedly not delivering mail.According to WPXI, the other incident was caught on surveillance camera, showing a postal carrier dumping mail inside a garbage can. PLACENTIA, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say two sport utility vehicles have plowed into a Goodwill store in Southern California, injuring five people.Orange County fire Capt. Tony Bommarito says an 88-year-old woman rear-ended a parked car shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday in Placentia, pushing the SUV all the way into the store. The woman's SUV wound up partially inside.The woman was taken to the hospital with a trauma injury, but she's expected to survive.Bommarito says a 14-year-old boy in the SUV that was struck and three women inside the store — two shoppers and an employee — were treated for minor injuries. 620
