It’s been a month since both of you went home to Paradise to be with Jesus. I spend most of my time imagining what both of you are seeing and experiencing. As my tears fall, I remind myself of what the apostle Paul said in first Thessalonians 4:13-14 NIV “Brothers and sisters we do not want you to be on uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him”. For me this is not the end but only a brief interruption. One day soon we will have a magnificent reunion and all of us will be with the Lord forever. Until then I will press on to the ultimate goal of spending eternity in Heaven. My family and I would like to thank everyone across this country who has prayed for us and sent words of encouragement our way. I also want to thank the baseball community; The love and compassion we have felt has been unbelievable. It truly feels like we are one big family. Thank you @ourbaseballlife for everything you have done to support us during this time. I also want to thank the @raysbaseball for their continuous support through all this. 1248

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis signed an executive order on Thursday that granted pardons to people who have been convicted of possessing one ounce or less of marijuana. “We are finally cleaning up some of the inequities of the past by pardoning 2,732 convictions for Coloradans who simply had an ounce of marijuana or less," Polis said. "It’s ridiculous how being written up for smoking a joint in the 1970s has followed some Coloradans throughout their lives and gotten in the way of their success."This pardon applies to all state-level convictions of possession for one ounce or less of marijuana. Read the full executive order here. Polis said too many Coloradans have "been followed their entire lives by a conviction for something that is no longer a crime, and these convictions have impacted their job status, housing, and countless other areas of their lives."In June, Polis signed the bipartisan HB 20-1424 Social Equity Licensees In Regulated Marijuana, which was sponsored by Rep. James Coleman, Sen. Julie Gonzales and Sen. Vicki Marble, including an amendment sponsored by Sen. Gonzales. This authorizes the governor to grant pardons to people who were convicted of possessing up to two ounces of marijuana. Individuals who fall in this category don't need to apply for the pardon. Those who were convicted of municipal marijuana crimes, or individuals arrested or issued a summons without a conviction, aren't included in the pardons. This new law went into effect in October. BLOOMINGTON, Indiana — A man said he was almost lynched over the July 4 weekend at Lake Monroe in Bloomington. He said a group of people physically assaulted him and threatened him using racially-charged language. The mayor of Bloomington has condemned what he saw in a series of videos that has now gone viral, being shared thousands of times. The video shows several men holding a black man against a tree, with his arms behind his back, allegedly threatening to lynch him.'Let him go, dude, please let him go. Please let him go.'"To be pinned down at the tree and hear him yell at his friend, 'Get a noose,' not even a rope, to get a noose with so much intent and the connotation that that carries in our society, I knew my life was in danger," Vauhxx Booker said.In disbelief is how Booker said he felt when men were seen holding him against his will — shouting 'white power' and other racial slurs."There was a moment where a white woman that was standing by yelled out not to kill me and as I was underneath these men struggling to breathe. I realized that she was talking about me, not to kill me," Booker said.Booker said he and some friends went to watch the lunar eclipse on the 4th of July at Lake Monroe. A group of men informed them the route they were taking to get to the public access beach was on private property but then things got hostile, leaving Booker with a minor concussion, abrasions and patches of hair ripped out."What went through my mind was I could be the next person like that or I could be the next hashtag," Booker said. What saved his life, Booker said, was his friends along with bystanders that heard the commotion and demanded the attackers let him go, refusing to leave."They stayed. It made a difference," Booker said. "I wasn't going to be a Black person that died and heard my own death narrated in front of me.""Horrified," Shelli Yoder, Democratic candidate for Indiana Senate District 40, said. "I am horrified, not surprised, but disgusted.""My heart is breaking for our town," Nicole Bolden, Bloomington city clerk, said. "This is Bloomington. And I know people love to say this doesn't happen in Bloomington. It does. A lot."Booker called the police and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources came but no arrests were made at the scene."It is not ironic that this would happen the weekend of Independence Day," Yoder said. "We have to do the work in order for all people to truly be free."The Indiana Department of Natural Resources on Monday evening released the following statement: The Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Law Enforcement Division responded to a call for service regarding a battery on July 4, 2020 at approximately 8 p.m. on private property adjacent to Monroe Reservoir property.DNR is investigating after a 911 call was transferred to Indiana Conservation Officer Central Dispatch. Additional investigation and interviews are underway. The Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Law Enforcement Division is working diligently with the Monroe County Prosecutor’s Office to ensure a lawful resolution. This matter remains under investigation and no further information will be released at this time. This article was written by Stephanie Wade for WRTV. 3264

It was not a quiet afternoon Monday at Madison Square Park.Brian Kemsley was walking with his girlfriend when he saw and heard a commotion on the Fifth Avenue side of Madison Square Park. He saw a man trying to rip away a stroller.“It's not a matter of stepping in it's a matter of duty, when you see a woman and her child screaming,” he said.He says the man was asked to let go of the stroller but kept reaching for the baby. The mother was also holding another toddler and everyone was screaming.Kemsley pinned him down and waited for police to arrive. It was captured by a witness on social media. Witnesses recorded video and called 911. Rangers arrived after about fifteen minutes and Kemsley says police took the man into custody. He was taken to a hospital and no one was hurt.
