BEIJING, April 5 (Xinhua) -- China will strengthen oversight of listed securities companies by promoting information transparency. On Saturday, China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) introduced a regulation which said securities companies should remind investors about potential risks when shareholders decide to launch a new business or introduce an innovative business. The annual report and half-year report by listed securities companies should include risk assessment conditions, as well as reasons for risk and probable effects. China's benchmark composite stock index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange closed at 2408 points on Tuesday In addition to the annual operation report, companies were asked to deliver a supervision and monitoring annual report which includes audit and accounting information. If a company or high-rank official is involved with serious illegal activity, and that results in worsening financial condition, the company should inform all shareholders. The CSRC said the regulation, which was made on the basis of the Securities Law, took effect April 3.

BEIJING, March 10 (Xinhua) -- Lhasa is stable, and troops there are in normal state, said Qiangba Puncog, chairman of the Tibet regional government, on Tuesday. "I was told in a phone talk with Lhasa in the noon that the whole city is stable and troops are in normal state as usual," he said in Beijing after a plenary meeting of the National People's Congress. He told Xinhua that he absolutely agrees with President Hu Jintao's remarks on Monday when Hu called for a "Great Wall of stability in Tibet." "It (Hu's call) is a good and long-term consideration," said Qiangba Puncog. On March 10, 1959, an armed rebellion was staged by the upper ruling class in Tibet in an attempt to preserve the old serfdom. The rebellion was quickly foiled by the People's Liberation Army, and the central government then decided to begin a democratic reform which put an end to serfdom and the theocratic regime. Qiangba Puncog said that the ** Lama and his secessionists clique have kept on smearing the central government and the Tibetan regional government over the past 50 years, but time and facts would prove what they said are nothing but purely lies. "They always lie that more than 1 million Tibetans had been killed in the past 50 years, but the truth is that the population in Tibet increased from 1.2 million in 1959 to 2.87 million in 2008," he said, adding Tibetans and people from other ethnic minorities now account for more than 95 percent of the population in the autonomous region. "The fabrication of the so-called 'genocide' in Tibet has become a stock-in-trade for them to cheat the world," he said.
BEIJING, March 18 (Xinhua) -- China's State Council (Cabinet) called Wednesday for thorough implementation of this year's government work report in face of the worsening global downturn. Since the 2nd Session of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC), the top legislature, endorsed the report delivered by Premier Wen Jiabao on March 5, it was now the task of the State Council and its subordinate bodies to implement the report, said the meeting chaired by Wen. Government work this year should follow the main themes of coping with the financial crisis, promoting steady, relatively fast economic development, and fully implementing the stimulus plan to shore up the economy, it said. Ministries should perform their duties, draw up and execute their implementation plans and coordinate with each other, it said. The meeting said the global downturn was still worsening, and although some regions and trades in China had shown signs of recovery, difficulties still lay ahead. It called for the establishment of surveillance and early warning system and immediate actions if problems were detected. The meeting also approved in principle a medium- and long-term plan for forest fire prevention and a draft law on the armed police. After further revision, the draft law goes to the NPC Standing Committee for deliberation
