SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A winter storm warning has been issued for the mountains in San Diego County ahead of a strong winter storm expected to move in Monday night.The winter storm warning goes into effect from 7 p.m. Monday to 10 p.m. Tuesday.Snow accumulations are expected to be anywhere between six to 12 inches with difficult travel conditions expected, warned the National Weather Service.More than a foot of snow is expected above 6000 feet with accumulation between 4000 and 6000 feet expected to be four to eight inches and accumulations between 3000 to 4000 feet expected to be between two and four inches.The National Weather Service also said snow is expected to fall to 2000 to 2500 feet Tuesday.  RELATED: Ski Reports | Today's Forecast | Traffic conditions | Strong winds, light snow hit Laguna Mountains In addition to heavy snow, winds could top out at 50 miles per hour.The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department says mountain residents should be prepared for crowds as families from low-lying areas travel to snow-packed mountains.Area businesses also say they typically see an influx in visitors during snowy periods.An employee with the Julian Lodge Bed and Breakfast says visitors usually come from San Diego, North County, Los Angeles and that the lodge has even hosted visitors from as far away as China and Japan.In San Diego, 280 beds are being made available downtown as cold winter temperatures are set to swiftly fall over the county after sunset.Father Joe’s Village will house 250 people at its building on 1501 Imperial Avenue. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A woman was killed and two men were injured following a shooting at a Church's Chicken in Otay Mesa West Wednesday night. According to San Diego Police, the shooting of the three employees was reported at the restaurant in the 3700 block of Del Sol Boulevard just after 5:30 p.m. Police say a man in his 30s walked into the restaurant early in the evening. "The suspect got into a verbal argument with employees and left the restaurant. He returned minutes later armed with a handgun and shot at three employees," police said.RELATED: Witness saves victim of Church's Chicken shooting in Otay MesaAccording to police, the same man tried to buy food at the same location earlier in the day using a counterfeit 0 bill. Surveillance video from a business across the street shows the suspect parking and re-parking his car several times between 4:40 p.m. and 5:22 p.m. At 4:53 p.m., video shows the suspect walking into the establishment before going back to his car at 5:08 p.m. The man re-parked his car at 5:22 p.m. before walking into the restaurant a final time at 5:27, when the shooting took place. At 5: 30 p.m., video shows the suspect walking to his car before driving away with his lights off. Minutes later, at 5:34 p.m., a San Diego Police vehicle arrived at the Church's Chicken. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- An Encinitas student beat out thousands of kids across the country to be named a co-champion in a national history trivia contest. He also uses history to teach kids about COVID-19.Quade Kelley, 11, produces different videos imagining what it would be like for historical figures, like Albert Einstein and Charlie Chaplin, in today’s world. In his videos, the student is telling others “about COVID and what we could do to have the cases go down."In one of his videos, he received the surprise of a lifetime when he found out he was a finalist in the Inaugural “Who Was?” History Bee. Kelley beat out 25,000 kids across the U.S.The student has read nearly 190 books about public and historical figures, over 250 biographies, and spent more than 300 hours studying.“Because of COVID, they canceled New York. It's sort of disappointing, but at least I had an amazing opportunity to be a co-champion," Kelley said.The winners of the contest split ,000. Kelley donated his portion to a local charity.Despite not being able to compete in the history bee Kelly was able to meet the other finalist via Zoom and his favorite author Jeff Kinney.Kelly says he has a passion for history.“It’s important to learn history because if we don’t learn about it, it will happen again, possibly,” says Kelley. “We can learn from the good things that will happen again.” 1381

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego woman is taking legal action against a trendy hair product company, claiming it caused her severe hair loss and bald spots. She’s not alone. Women around the country are claiming similar effects. They blame their hair care nightmares on Monat Global, based in Florida.“It’s been so hard,” says San Diego’s Dana Sohovich. She held back tears as she spoke exclusively with 10News about her experience. Sohovich has filed a class action lawsuit against the company, alleging it falsely promised her “longer, fuller, stronger” hair. Her suit accuses Monat of “false and deceptive advertising”.“I literally had almost a baseball size [ball] of hair in my hand,” she tells us, adding, “It's devastating.”PHOTOS: Monat users report hair and scalp damageTemecula’s Ashley Slayden showed us her daughter’s scalp. “You can see the bald spots [on] her head. You can see how thin it is. It was never that thin,” she adds. Slayden tells us she and her kids starting using the product in the fall. “I bought it at wholesale and I spent seventy dollars,” she adds. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A woman was arrested Thursday on suspicion of running over and killing a man she had been arguing with at a Kearny Mesa parking lot. San Diego police said 33-year-old Latisha Ingram and an unidentified 25-year-old man were arguing in a parking lot in the 4600 block of Convoy Street at around 11:30 p.m. Thursday when the altercation escalated. Kiana Smith was in the middle of her shift at Rakiraki ramen restaurant when she heard the noise outside. Ingram was belligerent, Smith said, adding she had been turned away by a bartender at O’Brien’s. "She turned her down because she was way too drunk, then she made her way this way, and a server saw her before I did, saying she was way too drunk, she couldn't even walk." Smith told 10News the male victim, who had been waiting on a table with his girlfriend, was trying to stop Ingram from driving. "It looked like she was trying to get in her car, but she was obviously way too drunk to drive, so the guy was trying to stop her from driving,” said Smith. According to police, Ingram then drove away while the man was holding onto her car. Police said Ingram drove out of the parking lot and turned southbound onto Convoy Street when the man let go and was allegedly run over. "He ended up on the hood, and she made the right turn, and he completely flew off," said Smith.The man was rushed to the hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said. 10News learned Ingram returned to the area about 30 minutes later and was arrested without incident. Ingram was booked on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and felony DUI. 10News learned she has a prior DUI charge from 2011. Smith said returning to work Friday was tough. 1702
