President Donald Trump tweeted on Friday that he has signed an executive order calling for stiff punishment against those who damage statues and monuments. The order comes days after protesters attempted to topple a statue of President Andrew Jackson from Lafayette Park near the White House. Dozens of officers moved in to push the protesters back.In recent weeks, there have been calls from supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement to remove statues and monuments of those tied to slavery and the Confederacy. Those calls have been met with swift opposition from Trump and fellow Republican leaders. But the movement has found support from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Califfornia, who has asked for 11 statues in the Capitol of Confederate leaders being removed from the complex. “We are looking at long-term jail sentences for these vandals and these hoodlums and these anarchists and agitators,” Trump said earlier this week.Trump later added in an interview with Fox News, “We should learn from the history. And if you don’t understand your history, you will go back to it again."“I just had the privilege of signing a very strong Executive Order protecting American Monuments, Memorials, and Statues - and combatting recent Criminal Violence. Long prison terms for these lawless acts against our Great Country!” Trump tweeted late Friday. The executive order calls for federal laws to be used to arrest those who topple statues and monuments, but it's unclear how the order will be largely enforced across the country. The majority of statues and monuments that have been targeted have not been federal government property. To read the full text of the order, click here. 1690
Putting on makeup is a part of our morning routine. To save money and time, you might use foundation that has sunscreen already in it, but does using a dual product give the same protection as using sunblock then foundation.Dermatologist Dr. Michelle Draznin with Kaiser Permanente said, it depends.“Sunscreen to maintain its efficacy has to be reapplied every 90 minutes and nobody reapplies makeup every 90 minutes,” she said.If you do re-apply throughout the day, Draznin says there are a few things to look for when buying the right makeup. She says to look for coverage with 50 SPF. Also, the product should have the ingredients titanium dioxide and zinc oxide.“Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide together kind of performs with optimal protection,” said Draznin. If skin pigmentation is a problem for you, Draznin suggests using a product that also has the ingredient iron oxide.“Iron oxides are great too because they protect better in the visible light and inferred light wavelengths and those wave lengths although don’t cause skin cancer they can cause pigmentation changes on the skin,” said Draznin.Whether it’s high end of low end foundation, if they have those three ingredients and the SPF of 50, Draznin says it doesn’t matter the cost or brand.“Some of these companies actually are made by the same manufacture same plant one for drug store and one for high end varieties, so really just pay attention to the ingredients and SPF factor," said Draznin. 1510

Prior to the shooting at a country music festival in Las Vegas, the term “bump stock” wasn’t a familiar one to most people. Even among gun owners, the devices weren’t big sellers.A bump stock allowed the gunman in the Las Vegas shooting to make a semi-automatic rifle function more like a fully-automatic one by bumping the trigger so that it had a quicker fire.Following the shooting, there was rare bipartisan support to get rid of them. Despite the support, Congress never took action and many blamed the National Rifle Association. However, reports now indicate that the Trump administration will soon outline a federal rule that would officially ban the devices.“I would call it the bare minimum of steps, says Elizabeth Becker, a volunteer with the gun advocacy group Moms Demand Action in Las Vegas.“We do want to see bump stocks regulated, seeing as they create machine guns out of semi-automatic weapons, but there is a lot more to do on this issue.”Becker says she believes more substantive changes to gun laws are coming, thanks to the new Democrats recently elected to the House. But not all gun owners are on board with the proposal."If you're a law-abiding citizen in America and you have a clean record, you should be able to own anything you want," says Mel “Dragon Man” Bernstein, owner of Dragonman gun store in Colorado Springs.Reports indicate the new rule would force owners to turn in or destroy bump stocks within 90 days. 1466

Residents of a neighborhood on Chicago's North Side are living in fear, hoping that ,000 in reward money can help solve two brazen killings on their normally safe streets.Investigators believe the same man is behind both slayings -- the victims were killed by the same gun and in the same manner -- and that the suspect lives in the Rogers Park neighborhood or somewhere nearby."Both shootings came from the same gun and likely the same suspect," Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said. "There is nothing on our end right now that points to these two people actually knowing each other."Douglas Watts, 73, was walking his dogs September 30 when a gunman shot him in the head, police said. It was about 10 a.m.Ladi Ogunnunbi was headed to church shortly before Watts was killed and saw the suspect walking away from him. Ogunnubi had forgotten something and went back to his apartment, he said."I ran back in to go get that, and when I come back out, within a minute or two, I started to see cops and a bit of chaos," he said. "It could've been me." 1069
