Kaua'i Police and Rexburg Police served search warrants there on January 25.Lori Vallow Daybell was arrested on February 20, and has been in an Idaho jail ever since, despite several attempts to lower her bail.Chad Daybell married Lori Vallow not long after his wife, Tammy, died of reported natural causes.The Idaho Attorney General is investigating possible murder and conspiracy in her death.This is not the first time the Salem home has been searched by law enforcement officials. 1984

BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio – A sheriff in southwestern Ohio issued a warning Wednesday to those who may wish to harm the officers in his department.Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones wrote in a press release that “lawlessness” directed towards law enforcement won’t be tolerated in his community north of Cincinnati.“You shoot at the police expect us to shoot back,” wrote Jones. “I will not allow my deputies or any law enforcement officer in Butler County to take the abuse I have seen over the past several months. If you come to this county expecting a free pass to harm one of my men or women in uniform keep in mind, nothing in life is free.”The sheriff cited incidents in other parts of the country over the past few months, including water being dumped on police in New York, projectiles being thrown and lasers being used to blind officers in Portland, and law enforcement being shot in U.S. cities like Chicago.The sheriff’s comments come at a time when people across the country are protesting police brutality and advocating for racial justice in their communities. Matthew Kraft left for Kearsarge Pass on the Sierra High Route Feb. 23 and was scheduled to return Mar. 4 or 5 near Bridgeport. His rental car, a gray 2016 2-door Jeep Wrangler has not been found at the trip’s starting point in Independence. 11 law enforcement, federal, and state agencies are searching for Kraft. CHICAGO — A statue of Christopher Columbus in downtown Chicago's Grant Park was taken down early Friday, a week after protesters trying to topple the monument to the Italian explorer clashed with police.Crews covered the statue, secured it with straps and used a large crane to remove the statue from its pedestal as a small crowd gathered to watch.Several work trucks were seen in the area, but it was unclear where the statue would be taken.The Associated Press sent an email Friday seeking comment from Mayor Lori Lightfoot's office.Last Friday, 18 police officers were injured when protesters tried to topple the statue. According to CNN, protesters used fireworks, frozen bottles and rocks as projectiles. CHANDLER, Okla. – Investigators say they were able to use DNA from a discarded cigarette butt to crack a 33-year-old cold case.The Oklahoma Attorney General's Office says the cigarette butt and latent prints were collected at a rest stop where Paul Aikman was found brutally stabbed to death in September of 1985.A DNA profile was developed from one of the cigarette butts, but the Lincoln County case eventually went cold.Last year, however, forensic scientists notified agents that they had found a potential DNA hit in the national DNA database. The DNA matched 55-year-old Earl Wilson, who is currently incarcerated in Oklahoma Department of Corrections custody for unrelated crimes.Criminalists say they then matched a print taken from the crime scene to Wilson.Attorney General Mike Hunter has now filed first-degree murder charges against Wilson.“Advances in DNA technology are allowing authorities to take another look at these difficult cases,” said Hunter. “Just because cases go cold doesn’t mean someone shouldn’t be held responsible, even after three decades.”The director of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, Ricky Adams, says Aikman’s family has suffered for 35 years, not know who was responsible for his murder.“35 years have passed, but we have not forgotten about Paul,” said Adams. “Thanks to science and determined police work by OSBI agents and our Cold Case Unit, we are pleased to announce that the suspect in Paul’s murder has been identified.
