The US Secret Service said it is reviewing an incident in which an agent blocked a CBS News reporter on Tuesday from questioning Jared Kushner, the President's son-in-law and a senior White House advisor, about the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.In video posted to Twitter by the journalist, Errol Barnett, a US Secret Service agent physically prevented him from questioning Kushner. When Barnett explained that he was a member of the press, the agent replied, "I don't give a damn who you are. The Trump administration has formally asked the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to develop regulations that could apply to Facebook, Twitter and other such platforms.It's a key step toward President Donald Trump fulfilling his executive order to regulate social media.The order asks the FCC to clarify a section of law that has shielded tech companies from much litigation over internet content since 1996.The FCC — which is reviewing the Administration's petition — now has to decide whether to agree with the president's call for oversight or not.Legal experts say the agency has traditionally avoided regulating internet companies in the past. 662

The US government announced additional sanctions and travel restrictions on Cuba Wednesday, following up on an announcement by President Donald Trump earlier this year.Among the specific changes outlined by the Treasury Department are restrictions on travel to Cuba for educational or cultural exchange groups, which will now be permitted only for sponsored groups in the United States, and with the participation of representatives from those groups.Individuals traveling for so called "people-to-people" outreach will no longer be able to visit the country, except where travel arrangements have already been made, or in cases where these individuals are accompanied by permitted, US-based sponsors, a senior administration official explained to reporters on a conference call. 787

The state of Tennessee came one step closer to allowing wine sales on Sunday after state Senators voted to approve a bill which had already passed through the House. The vote passed 17-11 on Wednesday morning. Final approval will now lie in the hands of Governor Bill Haslam who needs to sign the bill in order for it to become law.   The controversial plan will allow grocery stores to sell wine on Sunday beginning January 1, 2019.It will also permit liquor stores to immediately begin operating seven days a week. However, liquor store owners argue they are at a huge competitive disadvantage against major grocery store chains, who don't need to make any staffing changes in order to be open on Sundays.  House members approved a similar plan on Monday by a vote of 53 to 35.If approved by the Governor, wine and liquor sales would be allowed from 8 a.m. to 11p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 10a.m. to 11p.m. on Sunday.Tennessee first voted to allow grocery stores to sell wine back in 2016 after years of back and forth and under constant pressure from citizens and grocery store lobbyists.   1151
