The Sarasota (Fla.) County School District confirmed they are looking into a racially offensive promposal that was posted to social media.A spokesperson for the district confirmed the Riverview High School senior posted a picture that they worry will be a disruptor to the school and student safety. The post made to Snapchat reads, "If I was Black I'd be picking cotton, but I'm white so I'm picking U 4 Prom?"The district said they have not concluded if the 18-year-old will be banned from prom as it's an ongoing investigation. Sarasota County Schools also said they sent a text alert to parents Monday morning about the situation and that they plan to have more information late Monday. The student, who Scripps station WFTS in Tampa is not identifying, also posted an apology to social media. The following message was sent to parents and students on Monday morning:  930

The White House has approved a disaster declaration for Shasta County, California, where officials say the massive Carr Fire has killed seven people and is continuing to burn through homes and property.The death toll in the Carr Fire reached seven Saturday when a Pacific Gas & Electric worker was killed while working with a crew to restore power in western Shasta County, utility spokesman J.D. Guidi said. An eighth fire-related death occurred in the Ferguson Fire, east of San Jose, when Capt. The Secret Service arrested a man near the White House on Monday, after they had been told to be on the lookout for a man who allegedly threatened to kill "all white police" there.Monday afternoon, police in Montgomery County, Maryland, alerted the US Secret Service that the man planned to go to Washington with the purpose of killing officers at the White House, according to a USSS statement. About an hour later, Secret Service officers spotted him on Pennsylvania Avenue near Lafayette Park, according to the statement. He was arrested without incident. Officials say charges are pending.The Secret Service's protective intelligence division was notified at about 2:55 p.m. ET to be on the lookout for Michael Arega of Dallas, who the Montgomery County Maryland Police Department said was heading to Washington for the purpose of killing "all white police" at the White House, according to the statement. The Secret Service spotted him at approximately 4:05 p.m. ET.He was "immediately detained by Secret Service Uniformed Division Officers and subsequently arrested without incident," according to the statement. 1126

Gretchen Whitmer spoke out earlier this week after Trump said they were looking into the plan to bring agents to Detroit."There could be no possible justification for such an action.
