Now that the conventions are over, what will happen next with the campaigns? RALLIES & TRAVEL TO SWING-STATESIn-person rallies in arenas do not appear to be happening this election season. While Democrats have been skeptical about them for months, President Donald Trump's team has also accepted the reality of the pandemic in recent weeks. That does not mean an end to travel however. "The one thing I can guarantee you is the president will continue to travel to these states," Marc Lotter, a longtime aide to Trump and Vice President Mike Pence, said. For now, Trump is planning on holding stops at airports, like today's visit to New Hampshire. Campaign aides also say he is open to more in-person visits to places like diners. As for the Biden campaign, they are committed to virtually campaigning -- for now. "We are keeping our supporters, our staff safe, but we are still getting the vice president’s message out to voters," TJ Tucklo told Scripps National Political Editor Joe St. George recently. However, during a virtual fundraiser on Thursday, Biden hinted about getting out to swing states after Labor Day in a responsibly way. 1155

Her 7-year-old daughter, Sophie, suffers from Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, and a rare chromosomal disorder called Pallister-Killian Mosaic Syndrome. A year ago, her family spent ,000 making her 2015 Toyota Sienna wheelchair accessible."It's my daughter's lifeline. We can't go anywhere without it," said Lara.On Tuesday night, with the family inside the home, someone stole it between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. That van is needed for Sophie's many medical appointments.RELATED: NFL game result may have fueled Fallbrook vandalism, destruction of truck"At this point, I will have to cancel her appointments, because I have no mode of transportation for her," said Lara. The loss is not just about getting places. Sophie loves being in the van and getting out of the house."She laughs a lot. She likes looking around and seeing the lights go by," said Lara.Lara worries those laughs will be less frequent.RELATED: Police investigate multiple carjackings in El Cajon"That saddens me. Anything that makes her happy fills my heart with joy," said Lara.Joy is not the word to describe her family's past month. In early November, her husband Juan was shot in Tijuana while waiting at a taco stand. "Armed carjacking ended where he was. He ran, but many people got shot," said Lara.Juan survived gunshots in his hand and stomach. He is no longer able to work as a tow truck driver, which will squeeze the family's finances."I'm still standing strong. I'm a strong momma, but this special needs family has gone through a lot, and this just added to my grief and anxiety ... You don't know what to say anymore," said Lara.Lara's van is insured, but it's not clear how much, if any, of the wheelchair conversion cost will be covered.Anyone with information is asked to call Oceanside Police at 760-435-4900.A Gofundme campaign has been set up to help family with expenses. 2051
One of the leading COVID-19 vaccine candidates produced virus antibodies in every patient tested in a trial conducted earlier this year, according to a report in the New England Journal of Medicine. The published results describe a successful Phase I testing for the vaccine, which is being produced by biotech company Moderna. The vaccine is currently in Phase II of testing, and Dr. Anthony Fauci said Tuesday that the vaccine would move to the third and final phase by the end of the month.According to the New England Journal of Medicine report, Phase I was conducted in 45 test subjects. Subjects were divided into three groups of 15, each of which was given different doses of the vaccine.Every subject received two shots, each administered 28 days apart.According to the New England Journal of Medicine, the vaccine "induced anti–SARS-CoV-2 immune responses in all participants."The Journal did note that half of the participants indicated they suffered from side effects that included "fatigue, chills, headache, myalgia, and pain at the injection site," most of which came after the second injection. Three of the participants who received the highest dosage of the vaccine reported at least one "severe" side effect.Fauci has said that the US is currently producing the top vaccine candidates with the hopes of distributing them when they are cleared for use by the FDA. He said Tuesday he remains "cautiously optimistic" that millions of doses of a vaccine will be available by January. 1504

ONTARIO, Calif. (AP) — An infant and her teenage sister found dead at their California home are believed to have been killed by their mother, who left two suicide notes and was unresponsive in a hospital Wednesday, police said. The victims, 4 months and 14 years old, were found Tuesday in Ontario, east of Los Angeles, by their father when he returned home from work.Among the evidence is a "suicide note by the mother indicating that she intended to kill the children and to kill herself," police Sgt. Bill Russell told reporters. No details of the mother's medical condition were released, but Russell said she had been unable to provide a statement. No charges had been filed, and Russell said her name would not be released until investigators speak to her.Details of the suicide notes were not released but Russell said there was "a clear indication of what her intention was.""We do know that the mother was dealing with depression prior to the incident and had dealt with that in the past," he said. How the children were killed was still being determined by the coroner."There was a struggle at the scene which may have played a factor in the deaths," Russell said. The sergeant said the father called police when he discovered the deaths and was cooperative.Asked how the father was handling the situation, Russell said, "It's a difficult time, as you can imagine. It's a horrible tragedy."San Diego Crisis Hotline888-724-7240 1439
