BEIJING, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- China and Turkey voiced commitment here on Monday to make joint efforts to crack down on terrorism and separatism."China would stay firm on safeguarding its national interests relating to the national sovereignty and territorial integrity," said Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping.Xi made the remarks in his meeting with visiting Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, according to a press release from Chinese Foreign Ministry.Xi also expressed his appreciation during the meeting for Turkey's support of China's efforts to combat the "East Turkistan" terrorist forces that threaten to sabotage China's unity.The "East Turkistan" terrorist forces pose threats to the development and stability of northwest China, Xi told Davutoglu, noting that China wants to step up cooperation with Turkey in this regard.A bomb attack on Aug. 19 in Aksu City in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region left eight people dead, including the two attackers, and 15 others injured.Chinese authorities believe the "three forces," an umbrella category for separatists, extremists and terrorists, are responsible for the attacks.Xinjiang -- with 41.5 percent of its population Uygurs, a large Muslim Chinese ethnic group -- is China's frontline against terrorism. The region borders eight central and west Asian countries, many of which have been attacked by terrorist and extremist militant groups.Echoing Xi's views, Davutoglu said Turkey values its ties with China and would unswervingly uphold the one-China policy and crack down on any activities in Turkey that aim to sabotage China's sovereignty and threaten its territorial integrity.The two sides also hailed progress made on bilateral relations, according to the press release, pledging to intensify high level political exchange, expand economic and trade cooperation and strengthen coordination on regional and international issues in an effort to safeguard the interests of the developing countries.Davutoglu's China visit was at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi.

The two countries exchange letters on zero-tariff treatment to certain Afghan exports to China, which cover more than 4,000 items.In addition, China will continue providing training to Afghan professionals, executing more projects and extend its help to the most urgently-need areas in the country, Wang said.

YUZHOU, Henan, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- The death toll from a coal mine gas leak in central China's Henan Province has risen to 32 after six more bodies were found, rescuers said Monday.Some 300 rescuers are still racing against the time to search the five miners remaining trapped despite slim chances of survival as they were feared buried in coal dust.More than 2,500 tonnes of coal dust smothered the pit after the gas leak, which hampered the rescue, said Du Bo, deputy chief of the rescue headquarters.The rescue efforts, however, are speeding up after the underground transport, power and ventilation systems have been restored, said Du.The gas outburst happened at 6:03 a.m. Saturday when 276 miners were working underground in the mine in Yuzhou City. A total of 239 workers escaped but 21 were found dead and 16 were trapped.An initial investigation showed that 173,500 cubic meters of gas leaked out in the accident.The mine is owned by Pingyu Coal & Electric Co. Ltd., a company jointly established by four investors, including Zhong Ping Energy Chemical Group and China Power Investment Corp..

In the series of meetings, China will review with other countries the cooperation that has been carried out and discuss how to further promote the integration process of East Asian cooperation," said Assistant Foreign Minister Hu Zhengyue.Hu made the remarks at a press conference Thursday afternoon in which officials from the ministries of Commerce, Education and Finance briefed the press on Premier Wen Jiabao's scheduled attendance at the meetings.The meetings, lasting from Oct. 28 to 30, will include: the 13th summit between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) (10+1); the 13th summit between ASEAN, China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) (10+3); and the fifth East Asia Summit.Wen will also attend a meeting with the leaders of Japan and the ROK.Hu said China hopes the meetings would promote good-neighborliness and boost cooperation between China and the other Asian countries."During his visit, Premier Wen, together with participating leaders of other countries, will review the achievements of China-ASEAN cooperation, 10+3 cooperation, and East Asian cooperation, as well as cooperation concerning East Asia Summit. BEIJING, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Finance (MOF) announced Friday it would sell 28 billion yuan (4.2 billion U.S. dollars) of book-entry discount treasury bonds from next Monday.The bonds would be sold at a discount and mature at face value, said the ministry in a statement on its website.With a term of 91 days, the issue price of the discount bonds would be 99.542 yuan, said the statement.The bonds will be sold from Oct. 25 to 27 and become tradable on inter-bank and securities bond markets on Oct. 29.The issue is the 14th batch of its kind this year.
