(KGTV) -- Kelley Keatly and her husband were walking in their San Marcos neighborhood Wednesday morning when something caught their attention.They noticed a red sticker stuck to an electrical box. When they looked closer, they saw a message of hate, one that read: “The symbol of white resistance.”The sticker included a link to a website filled with hatred - towards Jews, African Americans, and the LGBTQ community.ABC 10News is not identifying the group.“Really I just see it as an act of pure evil, and it has no place in my community, it has no place in any community,” Keatly said.Keatly took the sticker and posted an image of it on a neighborhood Facebook page. Melissa Burgess saw the post and then found four - on electric boxes and traffic lights, including ones near San Elijo Elementary and Middle schools, where her children attend.“I came home, I was shaking just from anger and pain and hurt and just all of that from having seen that here in my community,” she said.Then, even more neighbors found the stickers, including on the back of Stop signs.The stickers come after a recent spate of hate-inspired incidents in the county, including people wearing swastika face masks to grocery stores, and another driving with a Nazi flag.Tammy Gillies, who heads the San Diego Anti-Defamation League, says it’s vital to report all incidents.“You have one person that can be radicalized on the Internet, one person that is drawn to look at a website through these fliers or these stickers and goes down a wrong path, so it is very concerning,” Gillies said.She alluded to last year's deadly shooting at the Chabad of Poway synagogue, allegedly carried out by a 19-year-old radicalized online.The Sheriff's Department says a total of seven stickers were located. It is investigating and asking anyone with information to contact the San Marcos station at (760) 510-5200.The San Marcos Unified School District says it inspected its facilities and found no evidence of stickers. 2010

Say goodbye to another 40 Sears and Kmart stores.Sears Holdings (SHLD), the bankrupt parent company of the two retailers, said Thursday that 11 Kmart locations and 29 Sears stores will close their doors in February 2019 — adding to the nearly 200?locations the company has already said will shut down in coming months.The closures are part of Sears Holdings' efforts to drastically reduce costs and find a viable way forward as it moves through bankruptcy proceedings. The company has?been struggling for several years and is drowning in debt.Liquidation sales at the 40 locations "are expected to begin late next week," the company said.Sears Holdings operated about 1,000 stores as recently as February but has been shuttering underperforming stores. When the company filed for bankruptcy last month, it said it only had about 400 stores that could turn a profit. Now, it's in the process of shedding more dead weight.In its bankruptcy filing, Sears named 142 of its worst-performing stores that would shut down in the coming months. SANTEE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A Santee business is empowering veterans to help heal themselves and become independent with yoga.The veterans behind the program say it’s a union of mind and body that can also lead to a paycheck. The business is called Hot Yoga and it’s located in Santee.The business was opened two years ago by Marine veteran John Szczepanowski. John is a combat veteran whose service spans decades including the Persian Gulf in 1989 and later in Iraq and Afghanistan.John retired from the military in 2014 and discovered yoga a year later thanks to a friend. John dove in and became certified as a yoga instructor.The practice was something he wanted to share with others, specifically infantry men and women and Navy corpsman who serve on the front lines.10News was able to capture a day of classes in which 1o active-duty military members took part.Those in attendance had the opportunity not only to see how it feels, but to explore a skill they may use to support themselves.John says if they choose, the veterans can apply for what he is calling a “Warrior Yoga Scholarship” which will provide them with tuition if they choose to become a certified yoga instructor.For more information click here.  1229

(KGTV) — CAL FIRE San Diego firefighters quickly knocked down a brush fire in San Marcos on Thursday, amid Santa Ana winds and dangerous fire weather conditions throughout the county.The 3-acre fire, dubbed the Sycamore Fire, ignited near Sycamore Dr. and Cox Rd. just before 12:30 p.m., according to CAL FIRE. Fire crews reported the fire began in heavy fuel and had a moderate rate of spread, but were able to halt its spread within about 30 minutes.Firefighters will remain on the scene for several hours to mop-up and further contain the fire.Thursday, dry Santa Ana winds created high fire danger throughout the county. A Red Flag Warning was in effect Thursday through 10 p.m. on Saturday for the county's valleys, foothills, and mountains. The combination of near-record low fuel moisture, strong winds, and low humidity dropping between 6 and 12% will create critical fire conditions.A High Wind Warning will be in effect for the same areas until 6 p.m. on Thursday. Northeasterly wind gusts of 30 to 60 mph are expected with isolated higher gusts in the wind-prone areas. (KGTV) - Several white nationalist posters were discovered at California State University San Marcos, campus officials said Tuesday.The posters, which were found at various locations Monday, advertised a group that is identified by multiple civil rights organizations as a hate group, according to CSUSM.According to the university, the group responsible for putting up the posters, Identity Evropa, is the same group that put up posters at SDSU in February. The university believes the timing of the posters is connected to the Pittsburgh shooting.University Police removed the posters, which violated the college’s posting policy, officials said. The college is investigating the matter.“While we grieve for the victims and offer our support to those impacted – the survivors, their friends, family members and loved ones – I want to be clear: White supremacy and anti-Semitism, or any other doctrines that expose hate and elevate one group above another, have no place at Cal State San Marcos,” said CSUSM President Karen Haynes in a news release.“We strongly condemn language and actions that promote racism, anti-Semitism, homophobia, violence, discrimination and other forms of hate.
