(KGTV) — Are you "Good to Go?"It's a name, question, and a badge of honor being offered by a new STD testing clinic run by UC San Diego in Normal Heights. For those who remember the TV show, the decor is a bit "Dating Game." Or perhaps "Austin Powers." Along with a feature you've likely never spotted in any health clinic."You can touch, you can create. You can get a low profile," says clinic Marketing Director, Marcell Reyes Vermillion, as he poses for selfies in a bright yellow photo-booth adorned with strings of yellow balls and a yellow shag carpet. The selfie-booth encourages those "cleared for sex" to take a picture for social media."This is a very sex positive message that we're hoping to share with people," said Dr. Susan Little, Professor of Medicine for UC San Diego. "There has been a lot of messaging around disease prevention. And we now have really good drugs, biomedical interventions, to prevent HIV infection among people who are negative. And to prevent transmission among people who are positive." Make no mistake, Dr. Little makes clear the goal is to stop transmission of STDs. Especially HIV among young Hispanic men where cases are still on rise. But Dr. Little says the new approach is to make getting checked an inviting experience, that celebrates health and sex."I think the time as come to let people know they no longer have to worry about disease," says Dr. Little. "We need to try and promote a sex positive, status neutral, sexual health promotion, rather than disease prevention." "Get checked, then you can mate with anyone you want," says Vermillion. Though, with the caveat, you want your partner to get checked too. The Good To Go clinic is funded by an NIH grant and free to those getting tested. (KGTV) - A man identified as the son of San Diego convicted sex offender Matthew Hedge was arrested on child molestation charges Wednesday. 34-year-old Shaun Crocker, born as Shaun Hedge, is suspected of lewd and lascivious acts on a child under 14, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department."Crocker knew the 13-year-old victim and at this time no other victims have come forward," officials said.He is being held on million bail and is due in court Thursday.Crocker has a history of at least 15 criminal arrests in San Diego and Texas dating back to 2003. None of the accusations were linked to sexual conduct; Crocker was arrested on suspicion of fraud, burglary, and taking a vehicle for a joyride, among other reported crimes. The alleged victim's mother said Crocker is Matthew Hedge's son.Matthew Hedge was convicted in 1989 of molesting two girls and two boys in San Diego. He was treated at a state hospital and released to San Diego County in 2005. Hedge was originally placed on the grounds of Donovan State Prison in Otay Mesa but returned to the hospital less than a year later after admitting he spoke to girls and had a deviant fantasy about a child. After his second release, restrictions on where Matthew Hedge was allowed to live were lifted and he moved to a downtown residential hotel with his wife. 1343
(CNN) -- The United States and the Taliban have resumed peace talks in the Qatari capital of Doha, a Taliban spokesman tweeted on Saturday."On Saturday talks between the Taliban and US started from where they stopped," Suhail Shaheen said, adding that Anas Haqqani, a former Taliban prisoner who was released in a swap last month, participated in Saturday's talks as a negotiation member. The announcement comes more than a week after President Donald Trump made a surprise Thanksgiving visit to US troops in Afghanistan and said talks had restarted. He told troops at the time that "the Taliban wants to make a deal. We'll see if they want to make a deal. It's got to be a real deal, but we'll see. But they want to make a deal."RELATED: North Korea fires projectiles from 'super-large' missile launcher, South Korea saysDuring the trip Trump also held a bilateral meeting with the President of Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani.Following that meeting, Ghani tweeted that "both sides underscored that if the Taliban are sincere in their commitment to reaching a peace deal, they must accept a ceasefire. We also emphasized that for any peace to last, terrorist safe havens outside Afghanistan must be dismantled."CNN has reached out to the State Department for reaction. In September, Trump announced an end to formal talks after a Taliban-claimed attack in Kabul killed a dozen people, including an American soldier. Trump said at the time that Taliban leaders were to travel to the US for secret peace talks, but after the attack he called off the meetings and canceled the negotiations. 1588
