SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — This month, Old Town's Whaley House Museum will open its doors for extended hours and invite guests in for a night of haunts and history.Every October, visitors can stop by during the museum's extended hours. This month, they take place Oct. 24 - 31. The two-story home and store addition was added in 1857 by Thomas Whaley. It was the first two-story brick edifice in San Diego and built using bricks made in Whaley's brickyard.The house operated as one of the first stores in the Old Town area and at one time was Whaley's home, a courtroom, a general store, and a theater simultaneously.While the store served the community in multiple ways during the 1800s, it seems its residents of one of the most haunted homes in America have stayed behind to watch over the grounds.During tours, museum guides will explore the stories of Whaley; his wife, Anna; their children, Violet and Tommie; and "Yankee" Jim Robinson — all of whom are believed to still be at the home in some form."Yankee Jim" was hanged on the grounds in 1852. Guests have reported heavy footsteps and windows being unlatched and opened — even Whaley himself. Others reported seeing Whaley on the home's upper landing, and a full apparition of Anna in the downstairs rooms or garden.Tickets for Halloween tours are for adults and for children, seniors, and military members. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The US Marine Corps is responding after a pilot made an inappropriate flight pattern over the Salton Sea. According to a statement from Major Josef Patterson, the pilot flew in a pattern resembling a "phallic image."The T-34C aircraft is assigned to the Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 101, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. An investigation is underway and, at this time, it's unclear whether or not any disciplinary action will be taken. Read the full statement below:  524

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Thursday, 19 new cases of E. Coli were reported among Marine recruits, according to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot.Although 19 new cases were reported, the number of recruits still recovering from the illness fell to 86 Thursday. Tuesday, 302 recruits were reportedly undergoing treatment for E. Coli. That number fell again Wednesday as 214 recruits were still undergoing treatment.RELATED: 26 more Marine recruits sickened by E. coli, according to MCRD"The command is continuing to take precautionary measures and care for those who are affected," said Brig. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The son of a San Diego murder victim made a plea Friday for the public to help find his father’s killer.Salvador Hernandez, 26, was shot and killed February 16, 2008, in Oak Park.He and a woman were sitting in a parked car on Seifert St. near Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 3:30 a.m. when a pickup truck pulled alongside their car and someone inside opened fire.The woman recovered from her bullet wounds but Hernandez died, San Diego Police said.During a news conference outside police headquarters, family and friends, including Hernandez's mother, sister and 12-year-old son Angel spoke about their loss. "Please if anyone has any information, I'm begging you, I never knew him," sobbed Angel, before turning to his grandmother for comfort.  San Diego County Crime Stoppers, 888-580-8477, and the San Diego Police Homicide Unit, 619-531-2293, are requesting public tips with more information to find the killer. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The Washington Nationals will look to a former San Diego State Aztec to lead them into Game 2 of the 2019 World Series.Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg takes the mound Wednesday night against the Astros, dueling with Houston ace Justin Verlander.
