It's a frightening case of road rage that happened in broad daylight and spanned several communities.Now Police in Allen Park, Michigan are asking for the public's help in finding the man who was driving a black Nissan Altima with a damaged fender and out of state plates on the front and back of the vehicle. Detective Jim Thorburn with the Allen Park Police Department said the man chased another driver several miles and then unleashed at least eight rounds of gunfire at another driver in broad daylight on the southbound Southfield Fwy ramp to I-94. It all started with a fender bender around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday in Detroit, in the area of Chicago near Greenfield. The driver of a pick up truck tried to exchange information, he told police, when the black Nissan Altima driver pulled out a gun. That when he ran. "He was being chased by a Nissan Ultima and he had a big pick up truck and he thought by cutting through fields and stuff he would lose the Ultima," Thorburn said.But that didn't happen. The victim hopped on the Southfield Freeway southbound driving to the I-94 ramp, where the suspect who was still chasing him, opened fire. The victim was hit in the backside but was able to keep driving, he finally lost the shooter, pulled over in Taylor and called police. Police photos show the side of the pick up truck riddled with bullet holes. A big bullet hole in the head rest was a sign that the suspect was likely shooting to kill. The victim escaped with a superficial bullet wound to the backside. Today he said he is in pain, but recovering.  Police are hoping to find someone who might have seen the male suspect fire eight to nine gun shots through the passenger window of his black Nissan Ultima in broad daylight on the busy freeway. The Supreme Court will hear arguments Tuesday on the Affordable Care Act.“If the ACA is repealed, millions of people across the country will lose access to their health care, but not only that, millions of people who have preexisting conditions will lose protections, which were put in place through the ACA that allows them to not be discriminated against from insurance companies,” said Rosemary Enobakhare, Director of HealthCareVoter.org.Texas is arguing the ACA is unconstitutional since Congress got rid of the tax penalty it carried if you didn't have insurance.Even though the high court has a new conservative judge and majority, legal experts don't think the justices will strike down the entire law.Even advocates for the ACA admit it needs to be improved, but don't want to see vulnerable populations lose coverage in the meantime.“When all the dust settles, and everything clears, and it's time to get to work, we’ve got to make sure to remind people what they ran on and we’ve got make sure that we have people fighting for folks in their lives and making sure they're prioritize health care,” said Enobakhare.Healthcare Voter would like to see Medicaid expanded in all states. They also want lower costs for prescription drugs.“In the United States, people pay 0 to 0 a viable. The death of this county’s only hospital has thrust this place into darkness, and dozens more like it across the country are potentially about to suffer the same fate.“We are seeing a huge divide in healthcare among Americans,” explained Johnny Presley, the owner of this small rural hospital.Hospitals across the country are struggling now more than ever, as patients are still avoiding elective surgeries because of COVID-19. Those are the bread and butter of most hospital's bottom line.In Celina, Tennessee, a town of about 1,400 people, the hospital also served as the county’s biggest employer. Presley spent months fighting with Medicare for reimbursement payments until he was finally forced to close the emergency room.He’s poured million of his own money into the hospital in an attempt to save its life.“When people can’t live in the rural communities they grew up in without access to healthcare, it’s almost like you’re in a prison,” he said.The cruel irony of a hospital closing in the middle of a pandemic is not lost on anyone who lives in this or any other rural community in America. At this hospital alone, they were able to stabilize or save more than a dozen COVID-19 patients over the past few months. Patients that now will be forced to drive more than an hour for care to the next closest emergency room.“So, many people are going to die. They’re gonna die because they don’t get the emergency care they need,” said Stephen Headrick, who lives in Celina and has relied on this emergency room countless times over the years.Since 2005, a staggering 174 rural hospitals have shut down nationwide. Fifteen of those closures happened this year alone, leaving a vacuum of care in their absence. Texas and Tennessee lead the nation in hospital closures.By the end of this year, hospitals across the country are expected to lose more than 0 billion, a staggering statistic that ripples far beyond the walls of any emergency room.When Cumberland River closed, nearly 100 doctors, nurses and staff were let go. By some estimates, 2020 may end up claiming the lives of nearly 200 more hospitals.“To keep our hospitals open during this pandemic, the government has to intervene,” Presley explained.With federal aid, Presley could reopen the hospital tomorrow, but so far, his pleas to politicians have gone unanswered.“I think it’s just a travesty that this country is going through. It’s official, summer 2020 was the hottest on record in the Northern Hemisphere.The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released their monthly report on global temperatures. August 2020’s temperatures around the world made it the second-warmest August on record behind 2016, and the third-hottest season.Here in the Northern Hemisphere, August set a new record with a temperature departure from average of 2.14 degrees F, beating 2016’s numbers.“The most notable temperature departures from average were observed across Alaska, eastern Canada, the western contiguous U.S., Europe, northern Russia, central South America, Western Australia, eastern Antarctica, and across the North Pacific, the Bering Sea, and the Barents Sea, where temperatures were at least 2.0°C (3.6°F) above average,” NOAA scientists observed.The three-month season, June-August, surpassed the previous global record reached in both 2016 and 2019. This period is winter in the Southern Hemisphere, and they also had warmer weather than normal. Australia also had a drier than usual winter, 31 percent below average for precipitation.Globally, the ten hottest Augusts have all happened since 1998, and the five warmest have happened since 2015.Scientists believe 2020 will very likely rank in the top five warmest years on record.Also noted in the report, arctic sea ice continues to decline.
