GUANGZHOU, June 16 (Xinhua) -- South China's Guangdong Province was facing the threat of serious flooding as two swollen rivers converged in the Pearl River Delta on Monday, resulting in a flood equivalent to a worst in 50 years.     The runoff in Xijiang River was 46,800 cubic meters per second and in Beijiang River 15,200 cubic meters per second before they met each other in Foshan City, according to the Guangdong provincial headquarters of flood control and drought relief, which said this was far higher than normal.     The danger of serious flooding is made worse by the pull from the moon, which is rising to its most powerful point in the month on Wednesday, posing a threat for river embankments across the delta, experts said.     More rains were forecast in the upstream areas of Xijiang and Beijiang Rivers in next two days. "When the Chinese people suffered the devastating earthquake, the Pakistani people expressed concerns, offered relief materials and sent a medical team to us. The Chinese government and people feel deeply grateful," Hu said.     The medical team consists of 28 people. Hu praised them for their excellent skills and all-out efforts.     Hu said the team symbolized the friendship the Pakistani people cherished for the Chinese people and expressed his wish that the friendship would last forever.     The team members said they felt Chinese people's hospitality and vowed to do their best for the quake victims.

 GUANGZHOU, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Three people were confirmed dead in mud flows and strong winds caused by Typhoon Neoguri in south China's Guangdong Province, said the provincial flood-control headquarters on Sunday.     The typhoon claimed two lives in Shenzhen City, when a mud flow inundated a section of road under construction. One person was hit and killed by an aluminum sheet blown off a stadium roof by strong gales in Zhuhai City, according a headquarters official.     The headquarters did not identify the victims. But the risks of mountain torrents and mud flows were still high, since rains brought by Neoguri were expected to continue.
