(CNN) -- A California rapid transit employee is being hailed as a hero for rescuing a man who fell onto the tracks as a train was approaching the platform.The dramatic rescue happened at the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station at the Oakland Coliseum after an NFL game between the Oakland Raiders and the Detroit Lions.Tony Badilla, a passenger who witnessed the episode, posted a video on Twitter of the two men hugging in the aftermath.He told CNN the employee, identified by BART as John O'Connor, was very attentive in keeping the crowd back from the tracks while helping riders find their train line. 615

She found the gym four years ago after trying over and over to beat her addiction to alcohol. “Every time one of those things didn't work out, I just ended up feeling more and more alone,” she says. But not at The Phoenix, which serves as an active sober community for its members suffering from substance abuse. “Nobody really cared about like where I went to treatment, if I went to treatment, if I go to one program, if I don't go to another program,” she says. “The only thing that was important was that we all just wanted to come together and have fun.” Gym founder and executive director Scott Strode started The Phoenix after his own battle with addiction.“I found my way into a boxing gym, and there was something really special about getting in the ring for the first time and being in there with other guys that were in recovery,” Strode says. “There were a couple sober boxers there and they became my support network.”To attend, you only need to be sober for 48 hours. “It burned and from its own ashes it rose again, and that's the story of so many people that come to our program,” he says of the gym’s name. “So, the name’s a perfect fit.” Phoenix gyms are in 20 states across the country, and they’re free! “There are so many programs that if you don't have the right insurance or you don't have enough money to self-pay or whatever else, you can't get access to treatment,” Strode explains. “Phoenix, if you can open the door, you can be part of it.” That incentive made it easier for Andrew Brough to come to the gym’s Denver location four years ago, while battling his addiction to opioids. Now, as manager of the Denver Phoenix chapter, Brough helps others in the same position he was in. “There was a lot of people that, like, help me along my journey that allowed me to be in this position,” Brough says. “And now, I hope that I can do that for somebody else.” 2080

EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - An El Cajon homeowner knew he had a bee problem but never expected the "massive" hive discovered in his backyard."It's pretty incredible," said Herb Herbert.He first noticed a few bees about two years ago in the back yard of his home on Primrose Drive."The bees were coming in and out of a small hole at the bottom of my shed," said Herbert.The vent hole is one of several that led to open spaces under his shed. Last winter, the bees seemed to go away, but they were back in the summer. Herbert was stung once while mowing the lawn."There were 20 to 30 bees buzzing outside at any time," said Herbert.Herbert had plans for some entertaining in the near future, so last week he hired Bee Nice Wildlife Management. They peeled back the wood flooring in one corner of the shed and discovered a 30-inch long, 70-pound hive, home to between 100,000 and 150,000 honey bees."I had no idea the scope of what was under there. It was massive and amazing. The bee guy said we were lucky, the bees were getting set to expand the hive," said Herbert.As the local bee season gets underway, Herbert calls that possibility mind-boggling. While honeybees are generally not aggressive, they can still be dangerous.The bee removal company was able to relocate the hive and the bees. They say the size of the hive is not an indication of what may lie ahead. Because it's been a slightly above average rainfall, the region is likely in store for a typical bee season. 1482
