An 8-year-old boy in Polk County, Florida caught an 11-foot, 3-inch gator late last month. It was his first real catch despite gator hunting several times with his dad.Grayson Chantley caught the gator on Lake Kissimmee late last month. He says his dad woke him up around midnight to go hunting. "Whenever they're big, I'm just like I want to get this gator," said Chantley.His dad caught it all on tape. Video shows the moment he landed the gator. Photos show the gator's head is almost the size of the 8-year-old. Chantley also showed off his catch to his older brother."I'm just shocked," added Chantley.Florida's state record for the largest gator caught happened in 2010 in Brevard County. The gator was 14 feet 3.5 inches, according to state wildlife officials.Grayson says he's still amazed."It teaches him how to survive. An armed citizen gunned down a shooter at an Oklahoma City restaurant on Thursday, killing him, police said.A man walked into Louie's Grill & Bar and opened fire, striking two people. As the gunman was fleeing the scene, a bystander armed with a pistol confronted the shooter and fatally shot him outside the restaurant, Oklahoma City Police Captain Bo Mathews told reporters."Right now, all I know is that it was just a good Samaritan that was there and looks like he took the right measures to be able to put an end to a terrible, terrible incident," Mathews said.The shooter's motive is not known and his identity has not been confirmed. 652

AN DIEGO (KGTV) - Generations apart, a 9-year-old is hoping to give a San Diego WWII veteran the 100th birthday of a lifetime. An aspiring journalist and U.S. President, 9-year-old Arthur Brook has been spending much of his time in recent months interviewing WWII veterans to preserve their stories. "I was beginning to think how good it would be to save their stories while they're still here. There aren't that many of them," said Brook.Along with his dad and sister Sofia, Arthur visits the Veterans Home of California, Chula Vista, to conduct interviews. "Well, most of them have never been interviewed before, never in their whole lives!" said Arthur.Arthur posts his interviews on his YouTube channel, Kids Discovering.When Arthur learned one of the residents, Edwin Schwimmer, would be turning 100 in September, he wanted to do something special for him. He's requesting birthday cards for Schwimmer and only has one rule:"No E-cards are allowed!
