BrewDog's DogHouse—the world's first beer hotel and brewery—is opening in Columbus.It's an oasis one could only dream about—the ultimate beer escape that has turned into a reality.Guests won't need an alarm clock. Congress passed a bipartisan bill to address the opioid epidemic, and this week the president signed it into law. It's one of the few things that brought Democrats and Republicans together.“Opioids is definitely an issue where there's a lot of bipartisan agreement,” says Republican strategist Brian Bartlett. “We saw the Senate pass their version 99-1. The House also overwhelmingly passed legislation back in June the first time around to address this issue.”Democratic strategist Brandon Neal agrees, saying the issue of opioids is a bipartisan issue affecting everyone.On average, a person dies from an opioid overdose every eight minutes, according to the CDC.“Right now, we're in a point in our society where every average person, everyday person, is affected by this,” Neal says. “So, one pill kills.”The impact of the problem is so big, it forced both political parties to come together to pass a bill that will boost programs to treat addictions, keep a closer eye on prescriptions and promote research to find new drugs that are not as addictive.“I think the next step is to start enacting some of the changes this legislation offered, because in a lot of ways, this was a comprehensive bill, but we need to see what's going to be most effective and what works,” Bartlett says.Just this week, there was a small glimmer of hope. CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) - Three Coronado restaurants were closed for cleaning on Tuesday after employees tested positive for the coronavirus. One of the restaurants, The Henry, is facing backlash over accusations that it was not transparent with its patrons.On Facebook, The Henry posted the following message on Monday night.“Coronado neighbors,We apologize for not being more transparent with you about our first COVID positive case last week. Even though we messed up our communication, please know that we took all the right actions to make sure our guests, our employees and our restaurant space were as safe as possible before we re-opened.We went through our entire protocol for a COVID exposure the night after we became aware one of our employees was COVID positive. This includes third-party sanitation of the restaurant, contacting all employees before they returned to work to make sure we knew who had CDC defined exposure to the COVID employee and making sure all employees had access to testing at our cost, regardless of exposure. We got lucky that we were able to get this done so quickly. That has not always been the case. In another restaurant out-of-state, we had to close a restaurant for nearly a week as we waited for the sanitation company and sufficient staff to safely reopen. No one in our industry is happy about the fact we are all getting more experienced and better at responding to COVID exposures.Some of you have asked us why we did not notify the San Diego Health Department about the COVID positive employee. We know the employee's health care provider has notified the Health Department and that we, as employers, are not required to do so. But because of your question today and after calling the San Diego Health Department who encouraged voluntary notification, the Henry is committing to do so. With all of this in mind, this evening we notified the Health Department that we received information about a second COVID positive employee.The employee in this second case was last in the restaurant on Thursday, July 2. We are closing the restaurant early this evening and will be proceeding with sanitation and employee contacts. When ABC10News asked about whether restaurant employers are required to do the same, the County referred us to the state’s website which reports in part that employers should prepare to notify their local health department if there’s an outbreak or lab confirmed cases in the workplace.On Tuesday, ABC10 News asked The Henry for an interview. CLEVELAND — Police in the Cleveland area now report a total of five Amazon delivery trucks have been stolen in northeast Ohio since Nov. 25, and with them, hundreds of packages. Investigators say in some cases the vehicles are taken by thieves as the Amazon driver leaves the running truck to make a delivery.Cleveland Heights Police Chief Annette Mecklenburg said that's exactly what happened on Dec. 13, after thieves stole an Amazon vehicle during a delivery."The driver was delivering a package, she had exited the truck and was putting it on the porch," Mecklenburg said. “A truck pulled up and one of the men got out and jumped in the Amazon truck and drove away. The truck had been left running with the keys in it. It is possible up to 200 packages, we believe, were in the truck at the time it was stolen. To me it’s just heartbreaking for all the people who had ordered. You know people were ordering online to be safe because they didn’t want to get sick, so many more people were ordering on-line and were looking forward to these packages and these gifts. It’s so close to Christmas, it really is sad, I feel horrible for the people who may not get these packages in time for the holidays.”Mecklenburg said the Amazon driver was not hurt, and said GPS tracking on-board the delivery truck helped speed-up the recovery effort.“Unfortunately, there were no cameras on the truck, and at this time we couldn’t find any cameras in the immediate area where the truck was stolen,” Mecklenburg said. “It’s my understanding that it’s their policy to leave them running when they exit it to deliver a package. We have heard that with some of these trucks, drivers are being robbed by people with guns.”News 5 contacted Amazon headquarters about the truck heists, and asked if these cases have the company considering delivery protocol changes, or adding truck surveillance cameras to assist police make arrests. CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Lifeguards in Coronado are on alert after spotting at least two juvenile white sharks Wednesday and Thursday. According to lifeguards, the sharks were at least a quarter to half a mile off the coast and didn’t appear to be engaging swimmers or showing signs of aggression. “Under existing protocol, the City was not required to close the beach or publicly report the sightings,” said City Manager Blair King. RELATED: 10 to 15 people stung by stingrays in Coronado“However, the City feels it’s important for the community to know that it takes these types of sightings seriously and is carefully monitoring the waters off Coronado. We also are working with Chris Lowe at the Shark Lab to find out more about the separate sightings and what might be going on.”Around 4 p.m. Thursday, a San Diego Fire-Rescue helicopter was called in and confirmed at least two four to five foot-long white sharks off the coast. The city says a lifeguard followed the sharks as they made their way to Point Loma. The city plans to try to tag or take DNA from the sharks over the weekend. According to city officials, it’s not uncommon to see juvenile white sharks offshore. “The shark population is rising and sightings are becoming more commonplace,” the city said in a news release. 1301
