When they're called, they are processed and detained.It could take months to get to that step, which is why a group is given the same number. Whether or not they are granted asylum, the migrants then face another judge on charges for entering the country as a foreign citizen. Other groups, like churches, help the migrants once they enter San Diego.One migrant mother who filled out the paperwork Friday morning said she is not afraid, she is filled with hope that they're almost across the border and she thinks it will be easy to get asylum with her son. Two thousand to 3,000 more migrants involved in the caravan are expected to arrive by the end of the weekend.The migrants who filled out paperwork consist of the LGBTQ group who split from the caravan due to discrimination, Central Americans and Mexicans seeking asylum. 1845

(KGTV) - Border officials highlighted their accomplishments Friday, saying the past year has hit some benchmarks."The past year has taken a tremendous toll on our agency, our agents and their families," Kathleen Scudder, Acting Chief Patrol Agent for the San Diego Sector said, referring to the thousands of migrants who traveled to the U.S.-Mexico Border in San Diego County.While a nearly 14-mile stretch of new bollard fencing was completed in August, from the beach to Otay Mountain, officials said their agents faced more attacks compared to the previous fiscal year."There were a total of 156 assaults on agents while performing their duties, agents endured 72 assaults the prior fiscal year," Scudder said.While arrests at the border have been down the last six months, drug smuggling has shifted to the water, Scudder said. Agents seized 3,273 pounds of marijuana, 1,284 pounds of cocaine, 3,918 pounds of methamphetamine, 288 pounds of heroin and 108 pounds of fentanyl "that could provide a fatal dose to 24 million people."Customs and Border Protection Agents shifted their role over the past year, providing much needed humanitarian aid for migrants from caravans. While agents faced national scrutiny for their treatment of migrants, Scudder described a show of kindness."Our agents persevered, often bringing items from their homes to care for small children and babies in their custody," she said.She described an act of heroism where an agent found two boys who were lost near Chula Vista. He found one of the boys unconscious, suffering from hypothermia. He wrapped the boy in his coat and hugged him, to provide body warmth until help arrived. The boy recovered and went home six weeks later.Scudder said she expects the downward trend in illegal border crossings to continue, thanks to the wall, agreements with agencies and Mexico, and Migrant Protection Protocol in place. SAN MARCOS, Calif. (KGTV) -- Authorities are searching for a fugitive sex offender from New York spotted in San Marcos. According to the United States Marshals Service, Dale Dulac violated his parole, leaving Niagara Falls, New York on September 20. A warrant has since been issued for his arrest. Authorities say Dulac was recently spotted in San Marcos. U.S. Marshals are working with the San Diego Fugitive Task Force to locate and arrest Dulac. SEATTLE, Washington — Calling all Harry Potter fans: Seattle, Washington’s coolest dad has created a wizarding world and we got a look inside this real-life version of Diagon Alley before it began its journey to a new home to help children.Johnathan Chambers said his kids always wanted him to create something special for Halloween."I posed a question to my girls, 'What can we do for Halloween or Christmas?' It was in the summer, to like go big. And one of them said, 'Diagon Alley'," he said.Chambers was fully committed to making this the best Diagon Alley fans had ever seen, but he had to leave his job to accomplish this project.  He decided to create the real-life Diagon Alley in his driveway. Chambers has been a creative director for more than 20 years and focusing on the details was his forte.At this Diagon Alley, muggles are allowed in. They walk into a magical filled with an assortment of shops and items on Hogwarts'  supply list. There is Olivander’s Wand Shop, Eyelops' Owl Emporium, Madam Malkin’s Robes for all Occasions and Flourish and Blotts where students buy their school books.Once word got out about the Diagon Alley Project, fans from around the world flocked to see this wizarding world in Washington.“They walk in the door and some of them have burst into tears. It’s been incredible," Chambers said.From overzealous screams, hysterical cries and a few marriage proposals, the Diagon Alley Project became a bigger success than Chambers ever imagined.As thousands of muggles roamed through their fantastical getaway, Chambers and his family realized they had an opportunity to make an even bigger difference. They decided to collect donations from visitors to raise money for cancer research. They raised ,000.We visited Diagon Alley as Chambers was beginning to disassemble it for its next phase.  He donated it to Camp Kory, a camp for children who have serious medical conditions, so the kids can now enjoy it.Through this magical creation, the Chambers family also started their own non-profit to continue their quest to bring joy to those who need it most.As for his next big adventure, Chamber’s plans on building the Death Star from Star Wars. 2238
