SAN DIEGO (CNS) - With every other county in California reporting election results in 100 percent of precincts, San Diego County mysteriously lagged behind for more than 12 hours after polls closed Tuesday night.Riverside County's semi-final report of election results at 8:01 a.m. handed San Diego County the distinction of being the last county in the state without 100 percent of precincts reporting. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A discrimination lawsuit filed by a former high-ranking employee against UC San Diego has reached a settlement agreement.Jean Ford served as the Associate Vice Chancellor for UC San Diego Health Sciences Advancement. In June 2019, she sued the UC Regents and Chancellor Pradeep Khosla, alleging age and gender discrimination, as well as wrongful termination.Team 10 first reported the lawsuit in June 2019.Ford came to San Diego in 2015 after a decade at Columbia University Medical Center, according to a biography previously on the UC San Diego website.The lawsuit alleged that she was subjected to discrimination and harassment by Chancellor Kholsa because she was a woman over the age of 40, then retaliated against for complaining about illegal conduct. The complaint alleged that Kholsa promoted a younger and less experienced man to supervise Ford.“My client has been a successful fundraiser for 25 years,” said attorney Kristina Larsen last year. “She was recruited to UCSD… and UCSD Health had their most successful fundraising year of almost 0 million under Ms. Ford’s leadership.”The UC Regents recently approved the settlement agreement, although the terms were not disclosed.In a statement, Larsen told Team 10:“Former UCSD Assistant Vice Chancellor Jean Ford, The Regents of the University of California, and UCSD Chancellor Pradeep Khosla have amicably resolved the claims between the parties, with none of the three admitting any wrongdoing. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A Clairemont man convicted of stabbing his mother to death was sentenced to 26 years to life in prison Friday.Joseph Robert Burks, 31, was convicted in June of first-degree murder in the July 24, 2017, slaying of his 58-year-old mother, Angela Burks, who was a longtime Otay Ranch High School science teacher.Police say Burks used a stun gun to incapacitate his mother, before stabbing her more than 20 times in the head, neck, and throat at the home they shared.RELATED: 499

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — "The Mandalorian" may take place several — fictional — lightyears away from Earth, but much closer to home, San Diegans can hear the voice of "Baby Yoda" in person.At Wild Wonders in Bonsall, two critters were used to help provide the voice of the character from Disney Plus' "Star Wars" series, affectionately known as "Baby Yoda." Kimberly Wright, co-director of the animal education center, said the alien's voice is a combination of their bat-eared fox, Acacia, and one of their kinkajous, Kima, as well as sounds from an adult and infant."They came out and he took a lot of noise from several of our animals," Wright said. "We tried about every weird sound that we had ... The high-pitched on the kinkajous is kind of territorial," Wright says.
