LAS VEGAS, the United States, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Top-quality light manufactured products and consumer goods have been on display at the China Brand Show 2010 held in Las Vegas since Sunday, as part of China's bid to further enhance the profiles of Chinese-made products and promote closer Sino-U.S. trade and economic relations.Co-hosted by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), and the Zhejiang and Fujian Provincial Governments, the exhibition is being held from Aug. 8 through Aug. 11. "Also, the show is more and more attractive to Chinese enterprises."The show occupies a total exhibition area of 4,500 sq m and hosts 229 carefully selected top-brand Chinese firms from 18 provinces and cities in China, including Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangsu, and Guangdong.The exhibits, including light manufactured products, consumer and household electronic goods, feature high-technology and ingenious design and represent a new dimension of China's latest economic achievements. This year's show has set records in scale, exhibitors and exhibit varieties.The show has served as a platform where corporate image can be built, products showcased and positive conditions for cultivating well-known Chinese brands created, the organizers said.For the past four years in a row, the show has been hosted in Las Vegas, one of the ideal venues for exhibitors around the world. BEIJING, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- China has decided to impose anti-dumping tariffs on pure terephthalic acid imported from Thailand and the Republic of Korea (ROK), the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said Thursday.The five-year tariffs, ranging from 2 percent to 20.1 percent, took effect Thursday, the ministry said in a notice posted on its website.The MOC said the dumping of terephthalic acid on the China market had caused substantial damage to the domestic industry.The ministry started an anti-dumping probe into imports of the acid on Feb. 12, 2009.On Feb. 12, 2010, the MOC announced the the preliminary ruling of the investigation, which required importers of pure terephthalic acid from Thailand and the ROK to put down a security deposit.Terephthalic acid is an organic compound used in polyester coatings and resins.

BEIJING, June 21 (Xinhua) -- A senior Communist Party of China official Monday said China is ready to enhance cooperation with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).Li Yuanchao, head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks when meeting with a delegation of the Workers' Party of Korea, which was led by Kim Chang Ryong, the DPRK's Minister of Land and Environment Protection, in Beijing.Hailing the constant growth of China-DPRK relations, Li, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, reviewed the successful visit by the DPRK top leader Kim Jong Il in May.Chinese President Hu Jintao and Kim Jong Il reached important consensus on promoting bilateral pragmatic cooperation during that visit.China would work with the DPRK to fulfill the consensus and expand bilateral cooperation to push forward China-DPRK relations, Li said.Kim Chang Ryong said the DPRK held the unswerving policy of cementing and promoting friendship with China. MUMBAI, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese telecom device vendors expressed their anxiety and confusion while waiting for the release of official telecom security norms with Indian government to re-gain access to the emerging market, according sources from Chinese telecom gear makers."We're now in a position of waiting and perplexity and keep active change of ideas with India telecom operators and governmental departments with the hope of swift resolution of delayed orders," said a source with China-based telecom device producer ZET Corporation on Thursday.Chinese telecom gear manufactures are worried to get a lower hand in competition with western rivals if Indian government couldn't allow their access in the first around of 3G telecom device purchase.Indian telecom operators are expected to roll out their 3G services prior to September with the auction of 3G spectrum ended on May 19."The documents on Indian telecom security norms have swelled from several pages to more than 40 pages in the process of negotiation among stakeholders,"said an official with Huawei Technologies.It's reported earlier that Indian high-level officials have allowed the access of Chinese telecom gear vendors if they obtain certificate from the third-party organization in addition to about 11 million U.S. dollars of deposit by Indian telecom operators with the government.

CHANGZHOU, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang on Saturday called for more favorable policies to encourage the construction of affordable housing.Li made the remarks at a meeting on affordable housing held in Changzhou city of east China's Jiangsu Province.He reiterated that China would complete construction of 5.8 million units of affordable housing, including low-rent housing, public rental housing and resettlement housing for relocated residents from redeveloped urban shanty towns.In May, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development signed an agreement with local governments nationwide to build 5.8 million units of affordable housing."Meanwhile, measures should be taken to increase the supply of commercial housing to meet people's reasonable needs of housing consumption," he said.He said local governments should adopt a realistic approach to affordable housing construction and plans should be based upon local needs.For populous cities, construction should focus on public rental housing that provides homes for low- and medium-income families, newly-employed school graduates and migrant workers, he said.
