(KGTV) - Hawkins, Ind., is coming to Universal Studios Hollywood this Halloween, well, the upside down version of the town, anyway.Universal Studios Hollywood is partnering with Netflix to bring the world of "Stranger Things" to the theme park's Halloween Horror Nights event beginning Sept. 14. (KGTV) -- A former Marine has been sentenced to 17 years in state prison for driving drunk the wrong way on state Route 163 in Mission Valley, then crashing head-on into another car killing two UCSD medical students.Jason Riley King, 24, was convicted of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.According to testimony throughout the trial, several people told King that he was too drunk to drive, but he got behind the wheel anyway, driving the wrong way on state Route 163 and crashing into the Prius.The 2015 crash killed 23-year-old Madison Cornwell and 24-year-old Anne Li Baldock.  Three classmates also riding in the Prius were seriously injured.The crash inspired a new law in the state of California that will require all bartenders and servers to take a class on how to spot someone who’s had too much to drink.Following the crash, classmates of the victims worked with Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher (D-San Diego) on assembly bill 1221, also know as the Responsible Beverage Service Training Program Act of 2017.The law was approved by Governor Jerry Brown on October 15, 2017 and goes into effect July 1, 2021. 1164

(KGTV) - As parents and children prepare for a new school year, a study shows California schools do not earn top grades compared to other states. California ranked 38th among the 50 states and District of Columbia in 29 categories, according to the Wallet Hub study. Data considered to measure quality included graduation rate, dropout rate, math and reading test scores, Advanced Placement exam scores, student-teacher ratio, and SAT and ACT results. Safety was measured by number of school shootings, share of high school students who were armed, participating in violence, or access to illegal drugs, school safety plans, youth incarceration rates, and safety grades of roads around schools. California was 4th best for the percentage of threatened or injured high school students. The state came in last for its student-teacher ratio. Other key rankings: 44th – Math Test Scores 38th – Reading Test Scores 32nd – Median SAT Score 16th – Median ACT Score 22nd – % of Licensed/Certified Public K–12 Teachers 34th – Dropout Rate 7th – Bullying Incidence Rate Top states for education included Massachusetts, New Jersey, Connecticut, Virginia, and Vermont. He went to deliver food to the migrants.   Abram Barron says it all started with his street photography.
