Actress Amanda Kloots took issue with President Donald Trump's call to Americans to not let COVID-19 "dominate" their lives on Monday — four months to the day after her husband died of COVID-19.Kloots' husband, Nick Cordero, died on July 5 after a months-long battle with COVID-19. Cordero was first diagnosed with the virus on March 30, and his brutal fight with the virus included weeks spent in a coma and the amputation of his right leg.On Monday, despite the fact that his doctors said that he isn't "out of the woods," Trump left the hospital with the blessing of his physicians to return to the White House."Feeling really good! Don't be afraid of Covid. Don't let it dominate your life," Trump tweeted prior to his release from the hospital. "We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago."Kloots took issue with Trump's choice of words."It's beyond hurtful," she said in a since-expired story on Instagram.In a message to followers that lasted several minutes, Kloots said that those who contract COVID-19 and their loved ones aren't being "dominated" by the virus by choice."No one is letting it (dominate). (WKBW) — The New York State United Teachers are holding a press conference on Thursday calling for a strengthened statewide mask mandate in schools, which includes masks to be worn at all times in school.The teachers union says it will release a letter to the state Department of Health calling for revised school reopening guidance.“The governor has said — and we agree — that parents and educators must be confident in their school district’s reopening plan in order for this to work,” NYSUT President Andy Pallotta said. “As we hear of disparate mask procedures and other issues in reopening plans across the state, it’s clear that the state must step in. A white van drove onto a busy Toronto sidewalk, and struck dozens of pedestrians, killing 10 and wounding 15, Toronto Police officials said on Monday. Later in the day, police said that Alek Minassian allegedly targeted the crowd of pedestrians. Police were called to the area of Yonge Street at Finch Avenue around 1:30 p.m. local time after the van fled from the scene. Police have since shutdown the area, and blocked off several streets. Authorities later caught up to the van and its driver.Canadian news agency the CBC reported that the van's driver is in custody.Video from the incident showed several ambulances taking away victims on stretchers from the scene of the incident. Stephen Powell, district chief for Toronto Fire, said that targeted pedestrians for up to one mile. The CBC has reported that part of Toronto's subway service has been shutdown. The area is in the North York neighborhood of Toronto, which is several miles north of Downtown. According to court documents, the members of a militia group who allegedly plotted to kidnap and kill Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer hoped to conduct executions of politicians on live TV.The documents state that Adam Fox — the man who state and federal officials have called the alleged "ringleader" of the Wolverine Watchmen militia group — devised two separate plans. "Plan A" included recruiting 200 men, taking over the entire state Capitol building, taking hostages and executing "tyrants" on live television.A secondary plan was to lock the door and set the building on fire.Fourteen men have been charged by the state and federal government in related cases. The documents were filed in Jackson County Court last month.The plot planning went on for about six months.
