Anyone with info call 727-893-7780 pic.twitter.com/zoICcaYvpI— St. Pete Police (@StPetePD) July 7, 2020 The area is used by several drivers to cut to busy 34th Street South and police officers hope someone may have seen something suspicious while driving on 38th Avenue S.The area where the remains were found does not have any surveillance cameras and is not in direct view of many homes or businesses, according to detectives.Officers spent hours Tuesday looking in the wooded area around the overpass but did not find the rest of the body.Ernest Lee lives in the neighborhood and says he was in disbelief Tuesday morning as the path he walks several times a week turned into a crime scene.“I do a lot of walking and we have a whole community that walks around here so I’m surprised none of us came across it," Lee explained. “The whole neighborhood is concerned because that could be someone we know.”Detectives say the woman who found the remains told police she jogs in the area often but did not see anything suspicious during her previous run in the same area over the weekend.Rafael Lopez, a spokesperson for the St. Petersburg Police Department says it is too early to determine the gender, age or race of the remains. Lopez also said the head was decomposed and it is unknown how long the remains may have been present near the road.“We do have a wooded area on both ends so although we are in the center of the city, it occurred in a pocket where it is pretty hard to determine if anyone saw anything at all," Lopez added. "We’re asking the public if they saw anything or were around this area in the last several days to give us a call.”This story is developing. GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Grand Rapids Police Department (GRPD) is investigating after vandals defaced gravestones at a Jewish cemetery with pro-Trump graffiti on Monday — just hours before the President delivered his last campaign speech of the current election cycle at a local airport.The vandalism occurred at the Ahavas Achim Cemetery in Grand Rapids. "TRUMP" was painted on the back of four headstones, while "MAGA" was written on two of them.The paint appeared to have been applied on Monday. Police say don't have a lead on any suspects, and no evidence was left at the scene.Michigan Jewish Democrats released a statement on the vandalism on Monday evening."The Michigan Democratic Jewish Caucus is appalled and outraged by the desecration of Ahavas Israel cemetery in Grand Rapids, a year after the city's reform synagogue was vandalized with antisemitic imagery, and on the day Donald Trump is slated to close his campaign with a rally in Grand Rapids," the organization said in the statement.Rep. Grand Canyon’s entire men’s basketball team has been placed in quarantine after four players and two support staff members tested positive for COVID-19.All 14 players and two student managers are in quarantine at a designated on-campus residence hall for the next two weeks.Players began reporting for voluntary individual workouts last week and were placed in quarantine for 72 hours pending results of coronavirus tests and physicals. Four players who were asymptomatic tested positive at the end of the 72 hours and were placed in quarantine while contact tracing was conducted.Players who tested negative were placed in quarantine as a precaution and will be tested again. The two support staffers who tested positive will remain at home for two weeks. 764

HAWAII (KGTV) -- The United States Geological Survey is reporting that an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.0 struck Hawaii Thursday afternoon.According to the USGS, the quake happened about 1:30 p.m., 11 miles south of Fern Acres on the Big Island.The earthquake was just one of hundreds of earthquakes that have swarmed the island, prompting concerns that Kilauea Volcano could erupt.The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory indicated that a volcanic eruption was possible but not imminent. Kilauea is one of the world’s most active volcanoes.The series of earthquakes came after a collapse of a crater floor of Pu?u ?ō?ō, which is a volcanic cone in the eastern rift zone of the Kīlauea Volcano.Since that collapse, about 250 earthquakes were reported in the area into Tuesday evening, according to Hawaiian Volcano Observatory status report.Check out the map below to see the area near where the earthquake hit: 931

FULTON COUNTY, Ind. -- The 24-year-old driver who struck and killed three kids while they crossed the street to board their school bus told police she saw the lights but didn't realize it was a bus until the kids were in front of her. Alyssa Shepherd was arrested at her place of employment Tuesday evening and charged with three counts of reckless homicide and one count of disregarding the stop arms on a school bus causing injury. Police say she was driving a Toyota Tacoma on State Road 25 around 7:30 a.m. when she "disregarded" the stop arm and lights on a stopped school bus in front of a mobile home park, striking four kids who were crossing the street to board the bus. Alivia Stahl, 9, and her twin brothers, Xzavier and Mason Ingle, 6, were all pronounced dead at the scene. Maverick Lowe, 11, was flown to Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne in critical condition with multiple broken bones and internal injuries. His family released a statement on Wednesday saying he is in stable condition and recovering. A probable cause hearing was recorded in Fulton County Superior Court on Tuesday where investigators and officers were interviewed following the crash as state police sought a warrant to arrest Shepherd. In that recorded hearing, Indiana State Police Detective Michelle Jumper recalled the information given to her by the bus driver, Shepherd and a witness that was behind Shepherd following the crash. The Bus DriverJumper said the bus driver said he had driven that same route for "a couple of years" and that he had stopped and activated his lights as he normally does in the morning before he waves the kids across the street to get on the bus. The bus driver told Jumper that he looked and saw the vehicle at a distance and waved the kids to cross the road because he figured there was no reason that the driver wouldn't stop. Jumper said the bus driver didn't realize the vehicle wasn't stopping until it was near his bus and he hit his horn at the last second, but there was nothing he could do. The Witness Driving Behind Alyssa ShepherdJumper said the witness told her she had been following the pickup truck in front of her for a while and was going about 55 miles per hour when she caught up to her. The driver said they went around the corner and she could tell there was a school bus stopped with all of its lights activated so she started to slow down. The driver told Jumper that she realized the truck in front of her was not slowing down as she saw the headlights illuminate the kids as they were crossing the road. Alyssa ShepherdShepherd told Jumper that she does not typically drive her husband to work, but that she had just dropped him off Tuesday morning and had three children in the back seat of the vehicle. Shepherd said she was not sure how fast she was going but that she is typically a "slow driver." She told Jumper that she was not late for anything that morning and that she was taking her little brother to her mother's house so that he could get ready for school. Jumper said Shepherd told her she came around the corner and saw the lights, but was not sure what they were and by the time she realized that it was a school bus the kids were right in front of her.  Shepherd is the children's director at Faith Outreach Center, a Foursquare Gospel Church in Rochester, Ind. Rev. Terry Baldwin said Wednesday that they are "Fervently praying for the family suffering this tremendous loss and everyone who has experienced this tragedy."Shepherd was released Tuesday evening on a ,000 bond.
