SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police are searching for a mystery shooter that appears to using moving vehicles for target practice on a road in La Jolla. On Thursday just past 10 p.m. on La Jolla Parkway, Judy Chance was in her minivan running errands. It happened about a quarter mile from the fire station."Bang, bang, bang, bang. Basically all at once," said Chance. Her minivan was under attack."Enough to caused me to jerk back. When I looked, I saw circles in my windshield, like target practice," said Chance. On the windshield were at least six circles. Whatever caused them cracked but didn't puncture the glass."I was shocked. I was scared but had to regain composure as I was driving," said Chance.Chance pulled over and called police, feeling frightened, but grateful."Luckily I was going slow. I could have gone off the road. Glad my side window was closed," said Chance.Chance was not the only victim. Just minutes prior, in the same location, a couple driving a Mercedes says they heard a loud blast and saw a flash, before their windshield was pelted with shots. Some eight circles were found on their windshield. Was it a BB or pellet gun? One gun expert told 10news the flash and grouping may point to a shotgun, possibly loaded with birdshot. Chance says there were no vehicles around them, so the shooter may have been standing on the side of the road.Detectives say they don't have any suspect description. Any witnesses or any additional victims are asked to call San Diego Police at 619-531-2000. 1513

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Officials with the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Air Show announced this year's air and ground military event has been canceled citing the coronavirus pandemic. The 66-year-old air acrobatics demonstration is one of the nation's largest military air shows drawing several hundred thousand spectators over the three-day weekend event.MCAS Miramar tweeted, "Due to the continuing spread and health concerns of #COVID19, @MCASMiramarCA must formally announce the cancellation of the 2020 Miramar Air Show. It is a disappointment to us as well as many across the world, but the safety of our Marines and fellow San Diegans must come first."This is the first time the event has been canceled since 2013 when the U.S. Department of Defense slashed budgets due to a government shutdown. This year's event was scheduled for September 25-27. Officials said they are aiming to bring back the event next year.“While we had initially hoped to host the show and help usher in a re-opened San Diego, there are still a great many risks posed with a mass gathering of this size and scale to do it in a way that ensures our guests absolute safety," said Col. Charles Dockery, Commanding Officer, MCAS Miramar."It remains a prudent choice to look ahead to 2021 and make it better than ever," said Dockery.STAY WITH 10NEWS FOR UPDATES TO THIS DEVELOPING STORY. 1371

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Plans for a temporary observation wheel in the heart of Balboa Park have taken a step forward to becoming reality.Thursday, the Balboa Park Committee voted 7-1, with one member abstaining, to support plans for the temporary Balboa Park Star attraction, which were originally introduced by the Cohn Restaurant Group and Sky Views of America back in October. In a statement from the Assistant Deputy Director Christina Chadwick of the city's Parks & Recreation Department, while the idea has gained the committee's support, a number of potential impacts still need to be sorted out before the wheel is installed.RELATED:The Balboa Park Star Observation Wheel could bring people back to the parkIn-Depth: Balboa Park's future unfolds during COVID-19 pandemic"The Park and Recreation Department has identified a number of potential operational impacts that must be contemplated in order to fully appreciate the feasibility of this project, and given the Balboa Park Committee’s conceptual approval tonight, we will now be moving forward with the goal of getting this installation up and running on a temporary basis," Chadwick wrote. Some of those outstanding issues involve the site plan, public safety, liability, permitting, and institutional outreach.Ultimately, the hope is to see a Sky Wheel installed on a short-term basis in Plaza de Panama to attract more visitors back to the park, pending coronavirus-related restrictions on businesses, museums, and attractions. The gondolas on the observation wheel would be enclosed, climate-controlled, and sanitized after each ride. Local, state, and federal safety protocols amid the pandemic would also be observed and masks would be required.Tickets for the wheel are estimated to run - per rider and would be sold online and at the attraction. 1826
