SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego County will launch a new public awareness campaign this week on COVID-19 as the number of community coronavirus outbreaks increased by three, to a total of 10 in the past seven days, officials reported Monday.Two other triggers involving the growth of new cases and the positivity rate of tests are "not moving in the right direction," said Supervisor Nathan Fletcher."These are concerning numbers," Fletcher said. "They're concerning because they clearly represent an increase in community spread and number of cases tied to our reopening and the fact that more people are out doing more things." SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego County homebuyers could be gaining an upper hand in negotiations as the region's housing market slows.A new report from real-estate tracker CoreLogic says 2,936 homes changed hands in San Diego County in November, an 11 percent drop from November 2017. Meanwhile, the rate of home-price appreciation slowed to 4.6 percent year-over-year. The median home price was 5,000 in November."It's a good time to get in there," said Mark Goldman, a San Diego loan officer with C-2 Financial. "There's more selection of homes to purchase, and there's probably sellers who are more willing to consider offers maybe a little bit below their list price, and so forth."CoreLogic says Southern California as a whole has seen its biggest sales drop in three years. The company says higher interest rates and the volatile stock market could be contributing to buyer pullback. The average rate for a 30-year-fixed is now 4.55 percent, up about a half percent from a year ago. The company, led by Filipino-American friends Jelynn Malone, Beverly Magtanong, Sam Magtanong, and Mike Arquines, has operated in San Diego since 2013 and gained a reputation for their creative drinks."We dreamt up this company and wanted our Filipino culture to be a part of it, but we didn't know anything about coffee or where to begin to source Philippine coffee," said Malone. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego County reported 634 new coronavirus cases on Friday, the highest number of new cases reported over one day thus far.The new cases were out of 9,224 tests reported to the county on Friday — a 7% positive result — and bring the region's COVID-19 case total to 22,489 cases.County health leaders also reported seven more deaths due to the virus on Friday. The victims died between July 7 and July 15 and include three women and four men, whose ages ranged from early 50s to mid-90s. All had existing chronic conditions. The county's death toll is now at 472 deaths.Two new community setting outbreaks were also reported, both traced to restaurants, the county says. The county does not name the businesses that community outbreaks are traced to, officials have previously said.
