SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Padres outfielder Tommy Pham is recovering after being stabbed in the back Sunday night, the team says.According to San Diego Police, Pham was stabbed during an altercation Sunday night.The Padres said Monday that Pham is in “good condition.” He is expected to make a full recovery.“We are aware of the incident last night involving Tommy Pham. He was treated at UC San Diego Health and is currently in good condition. He is expected to make a full recovery. The San Diego Police Department is actively investigating the incident and we will have no further comment at this time,” the Padres said.Pham Monday also thanked the medical staff in charge of his care.“I’d like to thank the incredible medical staff at UC San Diego Health for taking such great care of me last night. I truly appreciate the hard work of the SDPD as well as they continue their search for the suspects. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Puerto Ricans are living in fear after hundreds of earthquakes rocked the region, according to a San Diegan with family there.Tommy Rosas last lived on the island when he was 14. Though he moved to the mainland, Puerto Rico never left him."It hurts," he said sadly, "every minute of the day, I walk, breathe, sweat, cry Puerto Rico."He's been hurting more for his home since 2017, when Hurricane Maria hit. "My family moved, with the exception of a couple cousins who live in Cabo Rojo." He said it was too much to start over an most of his family moved to the states."The electrical grid is ancient, and it has to be repaired. They started the repairs little by little, then the earthquakes hit," saying in frustration, "whats next? What did Puerto Ricans do to deserve this?"The shaking started December 28th, the biggest quake struck January 7th, registering a magnitude 6.4."There's thousands of people living on the streets, because of their homes being destroyed or they're afraid of their home collapsing on top of them." Rosas said friends described the desperate living conditions through social media.Rosas gave a friend a flash light as a gift before he went to Puerto Rico a few months back. He said it was a joke, but now that friend now using it regularly, "he's in Isla Verde, so they lost power there, and it's periodically, it comes and goes. The food supply, water," he said was dwindling.He said a group caravaned from the north side of the island bringing supplies like diapers, formula and juice to those affected by the earthquakes.The positivity keeps Rosas going, "we don't give up, we won't lay down and say okay."He raised ,000 for supplies for the island and is planning another fundraiser. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- New numbers show San Diego housing costs are taking up more than a third of people’s income. 57 percent of renters spend more than a third on housing and so do 40 percent of homeowners. That's the result of the annual Equinox Project released Thursday by the Center for Sustainable Energy in San Diego.Mikaella Bolling, the project’s manager says it boils down to supply and demand.“A lot of people say well we don't want development in my neighborhood or we don't want infill development in our neighborhood, but this is actually the solution that's going to allow us to have more affordable units,” she said.She points to the need for more partnerships to bridge the gaps and educate the public.   “We need to have a better conversation between our residents, between our policymakers, and between our developers,” she said.The cost of a median single-family home in the county jumped 6.5 percent from 2016 to 2017. It’s now upwards of 5,000.“We're seeing that increase every year.  Great for homeowners...but not great for buyers,” Bolling added. Krysta Cordill is a certified financial planner with D’Arcy Capital in Carmel Valley.“There's really no magic to it,” she said. “You have to make saving for a home a priority.” Cordill is a past president of the San Diego Financial Planners Association and has seen more clients worry about whether they can afford the high cost of living. “If you have a Roth Ira or traditional IRA, they allow you to take ,000 of that penalty-free for first-time home-buyers," Cordill said.  She says people should consider starting in a condo or townhouse. “Just know that that's part of the process of home ownership,” Cordill said. As for saving, she offered up some simple tricks. “I've never talked to anyone who cannot pair down their expenses,” she said. First, she suggests cutting out easy online spending.  Instead, say to yourself, ‘If I really need it, I'm going to go to the store.’”Cordill also suggests that you make your morning cup of coffee at home.
