SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Two people were taken to the hospital after the car they were in crashed into a support column at a Mission Beach apartment building.The collision happened shortly after 12 a.m. on Sunset Court and Bayside Lane, according to San Diego police.The car was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed when it slammed into a beam that helps hold up the building.Residents heard the crash, with some saying it felt like the entire building was shaking from the impact. Despite the collision, the structure did not appear to sustain major damage.According to witness reports, the male driver appeared to be intoxicated. 10News learned he was evaluated for possible DUI.The man and a female passenger were taken to the hospital with what were described as major injuries.No other injuries were reported. 825

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - When William Hauf looks out his kitchen window, he sees rows of patio furniture that won't fit anywhere else."I just had to leave that stacked up out there," he says. "And I've got boxes of books in my garage right now that are unopened and brand new. Books that I haven't even seen yet."They're leftovers from Hauf's former, more successful life.In March, he sold his estate in Santaluz for million. Hauf had to sell it after losing millions of dollars himself in real estate and travel investments. SDG&E is now threatening to cut the electricity to his new home in Carlsbad if he doesn't pay the balance. "It's a nightmare, and I have no power to be able to confront this," Hauf said. SDG&E checked Hauf's meter in 2018, after a roughly ,000 annual bill. He said he hoped they would do more at the time. "They didn't investigate, they didn't identify, they didn't do an audit, they didn't do any of that," he said. Then came the ,000 whopper in March. In a statement, SDG&E noted that Hauf's bill worked out to 2 a month for the 7,600 square-foot Santaluz home. The company said it found no issues with the meter and that something in the home was being left on for long periods of time. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Two men wearing masks and gloves robbed a City Heights jewelry store Friday.One of the men jumped a display counter and confronted an employee of the Eclipse Jewelry Store at 4213 University Ave. just east of Interstate 15, police said.One man took jewelry from display trays and put it in a bag while the second man pointed a gun at the employee.The owner told 10News the men got away with about ,000 worth of mostly gold chains. He also said he thought perhaps the men had been in the store before since they seemed to know exactly what they wanted. Both men ran off and were last seen getting into a silver colored late model Toyota or Honda heading east.No one was injured in the robbery.
