(KGTV) — The California Democratic Party headquarters was evacuated Wednesday after a suspicious package was reportedly discovered in the mail, before later being deemed safe."Earlier in the day CDP headquarters received a suspicious package in the mail, which we reported to law enforcement out of an abundance of caution," the CA Democratic Party tweeted. "We have evacuated [sic] our headquarters building as a safety [sic] precaution, and law enforcement is presently addressing the situation."According to the Sacramento Bee, a manila envelope addressed to Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez was received by the CA DNP's downtown Sacramento headquarters.The envelope was delivered around 11 a.m. with the day's mail and staff placed it outside and called police as soon as they noticed it, the Bee reported. 834

(KGTV) - Solar panels are set to become a far more common sight atop homes in California.The California Energy Commission is set to adopt the new building energy standards that, in part, will require all new homes constructed to include solar panels.The mandate would affect all single-family and low-profile (three stories or less) homes, condos, and apartments that obtain building permits after Jan. 1, 2020.RELATED: Top candidates for California governor lay out plans to address affordable housing issueThe commission estimates new homes will cut energy use by more than 50 percent under the solar mandate.The standards also include updates to ventilation, nonresidential lighting, and heat transfer standards. Consumers may see an added to an average monthly payment but save an estimated on monthly heating, cooling, and lighting bills under the new standards, according to the commission.In California, solar panels can cost homeowners between ,928 to ,340 on average, according to Energy Sage. A Baltimore restaurant issued an apology after video showed a Black woman and her son being denied service because of the boy’s clothes, despite the video showing a white child being served while dressed a similar way. The videos and images posted by Marcia Grant show herself and her son being refused to be seated at Ouzo Bay, with a manager explaining it was because the boy was wearing athletic shorts and sneakers. A white boy who had been served was wearing a similar outfit, Grant pointed out. The unidentified manager told Grant the shorts weren't the same. "You tell me there is no athletic wear. That little boy out there had on athletic tennis shoes and shirt. So why does he get to wear athletic wear and not my son?" Grant can be heard asking in the video. The article indicated the woman's review was removed from the TripAdvisor website.TripAdvisor said the woman's forum post was removed seven years ago when the company had a policy requiring content to use family-friendly language. Site officials said the policy changed to allow more descriptive reviews, including crime.“We believe any first-hand experience should be posted to our site as a means to communicate to other consumers looking for information on where they should travel,” TripAdvisor posted on its site.TripAdvisor said it is creating a badge notification to apply to businesses to alert consumers of health and safety or discrimination issues at that business reported on within the media or other credible sources of information.  1123
