Three people have been killed in southern France after a gunman stole a car and took hostages in a town's supermarket, in what authorities are treating as a terror attack.Police shot dead the gunman, French media reported, after a four-hour standoff Friday at the Super U supermarket in the town of Trebes.Interior Minister Gerard Collomb identified the gunman as 26-year-old Redouane Lakdim. He was known to authorities for minor crimes, including drug offenses, Collomb said.The gunman had opened fire and killed two people there, he told reporters. TIJUANA, Mexico (KGTV) — Health conditions continue deteriorating Friday in Tijuana where thousands of migrants are camping, contributing to the opening of a second shelter 45 minutes away.The new shelter in an area known as El Barretal has a roof, dry floor and can house 3,000 migrants, Rodolfo Olimpo, a representative from Baja California State's Special Committee on Migration Issues said. Friday, about a thousand were shuttled by bus to the new shelter. There are no lighting fixtures, but migrants are using portable lights as well as flashlights.In the first shelter, the floor is mud, puddles everywhere and the entire area is littered with junk. One man brushed his teeth over a muddy puddle.10News Reporter Laura Acevedo went to Tijuana Thursday and spoke with the migrants living in squalor. One woman from Honduras, Leida Reyes, told her she thinks this is better than what they lived with back home.She said she couldn't walk around freely without fear, her children never attended school because it was too dangerous.When asked about the President's hard stance on migrants, she said she thinks he'll have a change of heart when he understands they're coming from a country that they can no longer live in safely.Reyes has been in TJ for about 20 days and is waiting for her number to be called so her case for asylum can be processed.No one has stated how long either shelter will be in place. 1418

(AP) — A FedEx executive says a higher-than-normal volume of Christmas-season package deliveries won’t interfere with the company’s effort to ship coronavirus vaccine doses.Jenny Robertson, a FedEx senior vice president, said two trucks on Sunday moved doses of a vaccine developed by Moderna and the National Institutes of Health from a factory in Olive Branch, Mississippi, to the company’s world hub in nearby Memphis, Tennessee, so that shipments could be loaded onto its airplanes bound for multiple states.She said the company is keeping its networks for shipping the vaccine and handling Christmas packages separate.“Nothing’s more important than the delivery of the vaccine to us, but we have put in place distinct networks that are keeping e-commerce moving through our ground network and vaccines moving through our express network,” she said. “We’re able to manage this volume right now.”Robertson said the company has seen holiday-level volumes for shipping packages since March because consumers switched how they buy products during the pandemic. 1081

There are about 6,000 restaurants in Queens County, according to the Queens Chamber of Commerce — and if indoor dining doesn’t resume, up to 3,000 may never open again.“For the last six months, it’s been very hard for everyone in the diner business, in the restaurant business. Especially for us,” said John Thanosopolous, who owns the Atlantic Diner in Richmond Hill.There are now multiple lawsuits against the city and New York state over not permitting indoor dining at city restaurants, despite every municipality around them being permitted to do so.“This is the knockout punch for us. This is the lawsuit. We didn’t want to do this. This is not us. We are workers,” said Rob De Luca, who owns De Luca Restaurant in Staten Island.Mayor Bill de Blasio did not address the status of indoor dining whatsoever during his Tuesday press briefing, though days ago, hinted an announcement could be coming soon.Governor Andrew Cuomo said other cities and towns were allowed to have diners indoors because their compliance was better than New York City’s.Without explicitly naming the mayor, the governor said local enforcement failed when bars were first permitted to re-open months ago. Ultimately that led state government to create a statewide task force of inspectors to take up the issue. But Cuomo said that task force is spread thin.“If you go to indoor dining, you are roughly doubling the number of places that you're going to have to monitor,” said Cuomo.The governor said the city should be pulling resources and inspectors from the NYPD, or from any and all regulatory agencies it has, and until it does, New York City restaurants cannot welcome its customers back inside.That is not what thousands of restaurant owners across the city want to hear.As for De Luca, he believes this disproportionately impacts the most vulnerable in the industry.Mitch Schwartz, the Mayor’s Director of Rapid Response and Deputy Press Secretary, issued this statement Tuesday evening:“Careful public health guidance.
