SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Hundreds of residents at “The Cliffs” mobile home park in Allied Gardens are fed up after living without running water since Thursday. The community consists solely of 55+ senior citizens, and many of them live alone or have limited mobility. "It's really kind of a pain in the neck,” 85-year-old resident William Shakespeare said. Like many of his neighbors living in the lower portion of the Cliffs, Shakespeare lost water since early Thursday. Luckily for him, his longtime girlfriend Suiko Paul is quite mobile. She became the go-to person for water supply for the entire street. "Elderly people live here. They don't drive. Somebody has to help them,” Paul said. She was been swamped. "She hauls water like crazy,” laughed Shakespeare. 10News met the on-site property manager as he and two others were digging a hole in the asphalt. He stepped away from the camera to tell us two old pipes burst on opposite ends of the mobile home park Thursday morning. Since then, he said he had been doing everything he can to fix the problem. But residents like Shakespeare and Paul did not want to see three people trying to fix a major water leak problem affecting more than 200 residents. "He's been here since Thursday, and they've been digging, but they're not sure where they're digging,” Shakespeare said. Many residents appreciated that the manager was trying to handle the problem himself, but they said it had gotten out of control. Like many of her neighbors, Paul said she had not taken a shower for four days, and she had gone to a friend’s house to wash dishes.The Red Cross began mobilizing at the clubhouse and doing door to door well-fare checks. But for many of the seniors, patience is running out."It seems like forever…. Not having water, I don't know what could be worse. Not having air, I guess,” Shakespeare said. The city is aware of the problem. But because the pipes are under private property, the owner of the entire mobile home park must have them fixed themselves before the city can turn the water back on. 2059

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Get ready for sunny days at SeaWorld this summer, as the cast of a television favorite comes to San Diego.SeaWorld will host Sesame Street favorites including Elmo, Cookie Monster, and others with themed floats, music, and two performances along the parade route during the Sesame Street Party Parade.The parade will feature 10 massive floats depicting the areas kids know and love, like Mr. Hooper's Store and the Count's Castle.More than 20 dancers will jump and jive alongside Elmo down the parade route, along with a cast of furry friends.During the two mid-parade shows, performers will jump rope, hula hoop, and groove to guests' delight. One show will star Rosita, a Sesame Street favorite known for her guitar skills. The parade can be seen on weekends running from May 25 - Sept. 1 at the park. 830

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Hate crime charges were filed Monday against the Little Italy man accused of attacking three Muslim women wearing hijabs. Kyle Allen, 50, pleaded not guilty to battery in a San Diego courtroom following the Oct. 6 incident. The women were walking on Columbia Street when Allen approached them from the other direction. Witnesses said Allen lunged his shoulder into them, tried to remove one woman's hijab, then hit one of the women. Passersby trailed Allen back to his high-rise apartment in Little Italy and called police. San Diego Police said Allen answered his front door while holding a handgun with a silencer. A total of 10 guns were found in Allen's home and seized, investigators said. Allen was arrested without incident.Protection orders are in place for the three women, keeping Allen from contacting them or coming within 100 yards.Allen will return to court Dec. 19 for a preliminary hearing. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Dozens of workers are racing to finish construction of the San Diego Zoo Safari Park's newest exhibit, "Walkabout Australia".It is scheduled to open to the public Friday, May 25. Monday, 10News was the first station invited for a behind-the-scenes tour. The various habitats are meant to reflect the deserts, plains, and rainforests of Australia.But the heart of the exhibit is a large open area in which 20 kangaroos and wallaby will be able to roam free with Safari Park guests."I think that the public will feel like there's virtually no barriers almost on the walkway going up and when they get inside. They're just going to have so much fun," said San Diego Zoo architect Robyn Badger.Zookeepers have been working with the animals before the exhibit opens, getting them comfortable with their new habitat and with being around humans.The kangaroos and wallaby are likely to approach guests on the path. If it happens, guests are asked to stay calm and avoid harassing the animals.While people are not encouraged to reach out to touch the animals first, if the animals make contact, it is okay to gently pet them."If you're calm and you're respectful of those animals, they're absolutely going to want to come and see what you're up to," said Animal Care Manager Steve Metzler.Other animals at Walkabout Australia include tree kangaroos, magpie geese, and cassowary. 1398

If passed neighbors would be required to park their cars in the garage before parking in their driveway or on the street.The Board of Directors distributed proposed updates to the Community Association Handbook for a homeowner review and comment; and will vote on Tuesday, August 20.Among the proposed changes:Street parking is permitted only after all garage spaces, and driveway spaces, are utilized to its maximum designed capacityThe Association's management company is permitted to perform a garage inspection of a residence to ensure compliance with the Association's governing documentsHomeowner Jose Esquer believes an inspection would be an invasion of people's property."They seem to want the right to inspect your garage, and that's private property. What I have in my garage shouldn't be anybody's business, but whoever is inside my house. I have a problem with them trying to police what we do once inside our house," said Esquer.
